Finding the Lost

Have you ever misplaced a project? Usually I put a WIP away in a bag and the bag gets stashed away somewhere - out of sight, out of mind. But last month one of my projects went AWOL.

After returning home from Boise over the Thanksgiving weekend, I sat down to work on December in the Joyful World SAL. I was closing in on a finish so I was excited to get back to work. Problem was, I couldn't find the project in the bag I took along on the trip. I searched all over and asked my SIL if I had left it there, but it wasn't there. Christmas activities took over so I just got busy with that and thought, it'll surely show up one of these days.

Thankfully when I was prepping the car to get some of my grandkids yesterday, I found it under the back seat! What a relief! So I put in a few stitches last night.

I had some placement issues in the design, but it doesn't bother me enough to pull out any stitches. What is bothering  me is the white dove not showing up very well. I did a little backstitching with gray, but wasn't happy with that either. Perhaps I'll experiment with a couple of other colors and restitch it. Hmmm . . .

A Spot of Winter is coming along too. Drawn Thread designs are such a joy to me as I really enjoy the specialty stitches. I did get a little confused on one of the eyelet stitches so a couple of them will be ripped out and redone.

The colors accurately reflect what I see out my window these days. Today the sun is shining and the sky is clear, so that means the temperatures are really cold - it was 1F when I woke up this morning. So the snow hasn't had a chance to melt, although the roads have been cleared pretty well. At least we don't have the record levels of snow that our family in Boise is having to deal with!

I hope my N. American friends are staying warm and dry. My son is flying home today from a visit to Nashville, TN, so I hope he doesn't have any weather delays - it's been snowing in Denver today!

Make it a good stitchy day!

I love Drawn Thread too. And I hope in 2017 to really take some time and work more on those Speciality Threads. SO SO Happy you were able to find December from the SAL. Looks great to me, but I can understand about the Dove.

I am glad you were able to find your AWOL project--it is a lovely one. I really like how your Spot of Winter is looking! The weather people are predicting 1-2 inches of snow for us overnight--here in the South that is a cause for everyone to stock up on bread and mild at the grocery store before we stay in the house until it melts(usually by that afternoon or the next day). : )

Hi Von: Yes the temps are cold here in Minnesota, woke up to minus 10 degrees, brrrr, I hope you stay warm, I am keeping my fingers warm with stitching.
I love the Sal you are doing, I have the copies of the patterns but want to stitch it some other time.
Oh my gosh I am so glad you found your project what a disappointment it would have been to not find it.
Drawn Thread does have some lovely designs.

Blessings
Catherine

Oh, I wish your son well. We fly to Nashville so often. We now try to go nonstop as we have encountered so many delays. Going through Chicago has been a problem as well as Minneapolis. Your little design is so pretty. I'm glad you found it and yes, I have done the same thing.

So glad you found it--I do love that one the most of the monthly SAL designs! I, too, love the specialty stitches in DT designs--they add so much and I enjoy learning new stitches (as long as they aren't too complicated for my rapidly aging brain!).

Love your winter picture at the top. We've had a similar scene, but it's warming today. Yes, I've lost a project....and am still looking. I want to finish it, but all I have is the incomplete design on scroll bars-no pattern or threads. I think I've looked everywhere, but obviously I haven't yet. My New Year's stitching was in reverse for a couple of days as I removed a whole panel from the Williamsburg project. It was only one thread off, but I knew it would be more apparent when the time to assemble the box would come, so decided I couldn't live with it. Fortunately I hadn't filled in the over one tent stitches of the flower petals.
So, I love seeing your finish and start. I'm hoping to get back to my blog soon as I have much to share. Love, hugs, and happy stitching.

Glad to read that you could find your December again. It would have been a shame if you had had to restart it after having stitched already so much on it. And such nice progress on the DT piece.
