A Full House

Here's the gang at our house on Christmas. I think there are a couple of sons-in-law hiding behind the wall. We have all our kids, grandkids, my sister and her family, plus my husband's brother and family. That's 23 people, but only 21 for dinner as son Kevin and his wife went to her parent's home for dinner. Christmas Day is definitely a highlight of the year when we're all together laughing, eating, and just enjoying being together.

Dinner for 21 is quite task, but these days I have lots of help! My sister brings the desserts - dozens of cookies and several pies. My oldest daughter brings an appetizer, rolls, and a beautiful layered jello salad and my son brings a great salad. I get started early by smoking/roasting the turkey the day before and preparing the vegetable casserole so that it's ready to pop into the oven at the right time. By doing as much as I can before dinner, I hope to alleviate that last minute stress. This year I felt like I did pretty well!

The last of the family left for Boise yesterday and now I'm slowly getting the house put back into the normal level of chaos. Empty boxes are being found and disposed of, gifts finding their places, leftovers eaten. Usually I'm at home enjoying the quiet and slower pace, but now that I'm working, this week isn't as laid back. It's just a new season and another adjustment.

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and my wish is that we all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Oh so great to have all the family together. And with the help of some of the family members who bring some of the food it's manageable - but still a task. You definitely have my admiration.
Have a wonderful 2016!
