Do You SRE?

SRE - Silk Ribbon Embroidery.

It's been a long time since I've done any SRE, but I love it! Love the sound of the pop as the needle punches the silk through the fabric, the smooth texture of the silk, the dimensional effect of the stitches. In my organizing efforts, I found this bit of SRE on a blouse I made for my middle daughter, who was the candlelighter at my oldest daughter's wedding in 2001. Not wanting to keep the blouse, I snipped out the embroidery and put it in this spare hoop so I can enjoy it and remember those busy preparation days before the wedding!

I have a nice little stash of ribbon, much of it leftover from the wedding, which I should use one of these days. :)

In catching a bit of stitching time, I've continued with Quaker Inspiration and am now a little over half way around the frame!

Not long now to the finish.

No, I have never done silk ribbon embroidery but I love the look of it. It looks wonderfful in the hoop, very creative solution.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a lovely comment.

I've always wanted to try ribbon embroidery, perhaps this is the year to actually give it a go... although I say that about things every year!

Happy crafting!

I did dab in SRE ten years ago... You are right, it is such a satisfying craft.
I should remember it when I make a plain dress or top. I can even recall where my SR is stored :)

Your embroidery is stunning! What a great idea to frame this piece as a keepsake.
