600

In looking at my blog dashboard the other day I was taken aback to see that my 600th post was coming up! I should probably come up with a really profound blog post in honor of this momentous occasion, but that would take more brain power than I have at the moment, so I'll just go on with my usual type of update. :)

The second weekend of July most of my kids and their families make the trek up the Clearwater River in Idaho, to the Lochsa, ending at Wilderness Gateway Campground. Another 50 miles up the Lolo Pass will get you to Montana.

Middle Fork of Clearwater River - Idaho
This trip was an homage to the camping trips to Deadwood Reservoir we did annually with DH's parents for many years when our kids were very young. Lots of fun memories from those times and now we want to make some new ones with the next generation.

Uncle Daniel endeavoring to make a zip line, but he brought the wrong kind of line. Maybe next time. :)
Of course, things go wrong and not just the zip line endeavor. Upon arriving at the campground and filling the tank with fresh water, DH discovered a very flat tire on the trailer - ugh! He filled it and we were able to get to the camp site and level it out. Luckily, the flat tire was on the side of the trailer than needed to be raised on the blocks so the trailer didn't have to be jacked up any further. Even more lucky for us is that our two sons-in-law are very handy guys who took right over and got the tire swapped for the spare.

We went on walks and hikes, visited the nearby beach for a cool down in the river, rode DH's trikkes around the loop, watched Daniel climb to the top of a nearby tall pine, watched Melanie paint, read books, tended the campfire, and just plain ol' hung out together. So much fun.

We really need to do more of these trips, but next one will probably be closer to home - maybe Mt. Rainier.
