First Week

It's been a pretty good week here at the Paulson house, a good mix of activity and laziness, a return to the school routine.

Monday was, of course, the Fiesta Bowl and our Boise State Broncos bested the Texas Christian Horned Frogs 17-10, to end the season undefeated with 14 wins - the same as the 2010 champion Alabama. There was indeed a lot of whooping and hollering here on Monday evening as we celebrated the big win!

The kids were back in school, so the alarm went off early for me too. I hate getting up in the dark. But I did, and they did, and the cycle begins again.

I finished a huge organizational chore - going through all the photos for 2009 on my computer, deleting some, and reorganizing the remaining pics into monthly folders, then storing all those folders in one labeled 2009. Oh yes, I also finished up the same chore for 2008 as I just never got it all done a year ago. Can we hear it for perseverance! :D

Kirsten and Kyle had orthodontist appointments this week. Next week Kirsten and Kevin have appointments. At long last, Kirsten is beginning her orthodontic adventure having now had spacers put in and next week the Herbst appliance will go in. A light is beginning to shine dimly at the end of the orthodontic tunnel, the end of payments and appointments that have been virtually non-stop for thirteen years as each one of our seven children have needed treatment.

And in my stitching world, I've been putting my new chair to good use and have finally finished A Quaker Study.

Although I finished AQS in 2010, I stitched 2009 on it as most of the stitching was done last year. The trick will now be to find a frame to fit its unusual dimensions, or perhaps I'll have one made. My local Craft Warehouse has some odd sized frames, so I'm crossing my fingers for an inexpensive solution.

And now I really must get back to the kitchen and put pounds of butter and flour and sugar into the Bosch mixer and make up dozens of cookies. I have cookie duty at church tomorrow!

What a lovely, lovely stitch your Quaker is. I really like the color and how it came together. I hope you find the perfect frame.

Oh! A finish Von, and a lovely one at that. Way to go! Kudos, also for getting back into the routine. I went to work today and was still discombobulated.

Beautiful finish Von! Congrats. I can't imagine 7 children all needing orthodontic care-that's enough to make me swoon! I have one that is getting close to the end of her journey too

Very, very nice, Von! I hope that you are able to find an inexpensive framing solution, as well. I'm going to start looking into ordering my own molding at some point and see if I can't build my own. Surely there must be a cheaper way, though the woman who does the framing at our LNS does a gorgeous job. It just costs an arm and a leg!
