Autumn Harbinger

One usually connects leaves of many colors floating to the ground, swirling in the wind, with the beginning of autumn. What I think of and eagerly await each autumn is the blooming of the sagebrush. Looking out my living room window I can see several wonderful patches of yellow out on the railroad land.

Now for an actual bit of stitching! I know it's not much, but I did get a start on Dani's NRR. It's hard to tell, but it will soon be a castle. :)

Before starting I had to clean all around my stitching chair. Magazines, floss, charts, and old mail tend to pile up here to the point that I just cannot stitch. It's much more relaxing for me to stitch in a space that's straightened. As a reward for my hard work, I cut some roses from the garden. From here I can stitch, watch television, and keep an eye on the beautiful yellow sagebrush. Love it!

Those roses are gorgeous!

I can't stand stitching in a messy space either and had to do a similar tidy-up recently. It's so much more relaxing to stitch in my room now ;)

The blooming sage brush about killed me every fall while living in Idaho. I spent a couple afternoons at the walk in clinic getting my eyes rinsed in running water because the thin lining on my eyes swelled and puffed up. Not fun. I still can't go east of the mountains in the fall without having severe problems with allergies. Pretty to look at in pictures tho!

Yeah, this is not a kind environment for those with allergies - and if you don't have allergies when you move here, just wait a few years - you will! This year has been particularly bad so we've all gone through a lot of the little pink pills!

Ooh, what a view to enjoy from the tiny stitching nook you created there! I don't know what you mean though, when you say you need things tidy around you. I thought *all* needleworkers agreed that housework makes you croak (or something). I think I could stitch in a pig sty. In fact, I do that on a daily basis :o)

I can't wait to see what's going in on my RR!

That sage is pretty and reminds me of goldenrod. I see on one of your comments that it acts like it too.
My life is trying to tidy. But I know what you mean, it feels good to have an organized spot to enjoy.

The sagebrush is lovely. I'm not sure my allergies would like it, but it sure is pretty to look at.

Can't wait to see how your castle turns out on your RR piece.

Your roses are GORGEOUS!!!

Hi Von!
These yellow plants are amazing! We don't have those around here. Not that I know...
I also love being in a tidy space but I definitely fail to provide for it... There's always someone around here to leave anything behind: mail, consoles, sweet wrapping papers, bottles (of water!!!), whatever... I guess you know how it is. And sometimes, it's so tiring to have the kids tidy their own mess that I end up doing it myself...
Hope to read a new post soon.
Enjoy your week end!
