SBQ - A Shop of My Own

This week's SBQ is: Do you dream of running your own LNS/ONS? If so, tell us about your
dream. If not, tell us about your cross stitch dream… maybe you dream
of designing, dyeing your own floss or fabric, etc.

I've spent way too much time dreaming about this one and have spent thousands of imaginary dollars in stock for my shop. My shop would have a huge table near the back with excellent lighting for classes and be available for drop-in stitchers. Having a nice spot to sit and peruse charts would be good too. However, the real world of retail selling involving the total devotion of one's time and energy (and money!) to run such a shop is beyond my capability. But wouldn't it be lovely to have a part-time job in such a place? That would be my ideal!

A part-time job that pays really well and offers a 50% mark down for working there would be GREAT!
LOL!

Sadly...I don't think that it exists around my part of the country!

I think I'd like to be the person at the shop that mindlessly fills internet orders and runs the shops website, all the while having a fantastic employee discount and time available to stitch display samples!

I used to work part-time at an LNS, purely for the 50% discount! Unfortunately, the owner didn't stock a lot of my favorite designs, but I did stock up on linen!

I did it this last year along with two of my friends we opened a Cross Stitch shop called Heartland Needleworks. I am the one to manage the shop each day and handle most of the buying and selling. It is everything you imagine both good and bad but I love it and I am not sorry. Thanks for the question, CJ

Your V (for Vendetta? lol...)looks great, Von!
My son will soon have to wear braces, too... I'm trying to delay but I think it's not serious really...
I was wondering: do you have any news of Terri (blog: work in progress). I know you used to comment there. She has stopped blogging since 11th October... I'm kinda worried, even though I know that some people just stop blogging and that's it...
Take care!

I agree, the thought of having a shop of my own is a nice idea, but realistically impractical. A part time job could definitely be fun though.:)

LOL ... sometimes I think I have a shop of my own in the closet. I seem to have a nice batch of stash hidden in there.

Beautiful smocking in the previous post ... yes, the dreaded waiting rooms. I have to take the boys at 9am tomorrow ... in the frigid weather. Drat.

enjoy the day!
