A Gentle Snowfall

A few minutes ago a few straggling snowflakes began to fall from the clouds that crept over us this afternoon. Now they're falling with much more intensity. Perhaps the storm from W. Washington has finally made it to the Mid-Columbia and we'll have to deal with the ice and snow along with so much of the country. Ah well, it looks pretty right now.

I could use some downtime that a snow day would give us as I have a new digital camera to learn to use!! This came as a windfall to me a couple of days ago. My DH had been given as assignment by his Dad and stepmom to find them a good deal on a nice digital camera to take on their cruise. Finally Gary found something that was both in Sunday's Best Buy ad. He called his brother in Boise to see if he could pick one up and save the shipping charges and time, but bought a back up just in case Best Buy in Boise was sold out. Actually they were sold out here in Kennewick, so he was able to price match at Office Depot. Well, brother Jim found one and DH decided we should go ahead and keep this one as it's a nice size to carry around when he doesn't want to pack his big digital camera. This one is a Panasonic DMC-LZ5 - woot!

Here's my first picture taken with it, another little Grady gown I've been working on for a couple of days. These gowns are great for packing up in a zip-loc to smock on in a dentist office or in the car while waiting for kids. All that's needed is a skein of floss, needle, scissors, and a simple design that I usually can keep in my head.

Glad you got a new toy, I mean camera too. We went from 'throw in the pocket' to one that is a big guy that needs a case. Shhh-I still like the smaller one. My DH has been looking through camera magazines forever!
Great first shot too of your pretty smocking.

Von, I love seeing pix of your smocking! When Brigit (my 9 yr old) was a baby, I wanted to find a smocking class, but before I did, she was too "grown-up" for little, smocked dresses and all my other babies were boys! Oh well... at least I get to smock vicariously through you! :)

Carina, there may be some granddaughters in your future, so all is not lost. :) I'm really hoping there are in mine too, lol!

Happy New Year Von and to your family, I am sorry for being a bit late but have not had much time to myself lately!
I hope we get the remains of your snow over the pond in a week or so, it really feels far to warm for this time of year. I absolutely love your smocking and your hardanger when you show that. You really are very multi talented. Great picture by the way with that new camera you have it is really clear :-))

I hate this snow!!! It took me over an hour to drive to work this morning. Wish it would snow on a Saturday so we could stay home and enjoy it! The snow from last week was still on the ground when it started up again!

Beautiful smocking! I love the color of the fabric!

It looks like we are all getting weather changes now - I guess we can't run from winter forever.

What beautiful smocking! You're really talented Von, it's just gorgeous. Enjoy your new camera - we've just bought a new one to replace the one I broke and it's taking a bit of getting used to.

Wowzer, if these are the sorts of pictures you can make with your new camera, it's no wonder you decided to keep it! Good for you, Von!

Oh, Von, I used to smock some years ago too. I miss it along with so many other things, but until God creates a 48 hour day, it ain't gonna happen!!
