Finish Friday

Not feeling quite with it yesterday or today as I'm fighting off a cold. It hasn't gotten bad yet, I'm mostly fatigued and congested, so no stitching has happened for a couple of days.  But I still got a finish in before the cold hit!

LHN - Blossom and Blackbirds
This is done on 28ct linen, flax, in the recommended DMC floss colors. LHN pieces are fun, sweet stitches, perfect for working on in between more complex projects.

Some of our Boise family are coming up this weekend to visit the new addition to our family! It'll be great to see them again, although I won't be accompanying them over to visit little Gideon - not with this darn cold, argh! Stitching time will be limited as well, but I'll be having fun all the same.

Today was the day I took Knox out to celebrate his 7th birthday, which is tomorrow. First off he wanted to go to WalMart for a lego set and a lock box. Oh my, such decisions! We spent 40 minutes considering all the sets, made more difficult because I gave him a budget of what I could spend. Up and down the aisle, finally narrowing it down to Ninjago and Star Wars, and at last settling on a Ninjago Samurai vehicle. Then we found him a tool box and a lock for it. For some reason all the Winckler grandkids have wanted lock boxes for their treasures this last year. We ran over to Costco for my weekly shopping, then lunch at Red Robin. The attraction there is the little digital gizmo they have on the tables where you can play games and Knox is a fiend for anything on a screen. But he's a happy, lovey little guy and lots of fun to be with. :)

Wishing you a great stitchy weekend, my friends!

Sounds like a wonderful day with your grandson. We have spent many similar days. After Caleb moved so far away, we did less for his birthday and we had hello(our first day of visiting) and good-by( last day) gift buying to do at Wal-mart or Toys R" Us. His favorite lunch place was Red Robin! I do love the little stitched piece you have finished. What a pretty shade of blue. Enjoy your visitors this week-end. It's a shame you can't visit the new little guy with them.

Love those birthday outings with the grands....I have two coming up next week. One will be 21 and the other 20. So thankful they still do birthday lunch with me. Your stitching is beautiful? Will you frame it? I also have discovered the joy of small projects while working on the major ones. Hope you recover quickly from your cold and can enjoy the weekend. Sending a hug and saying a get well prayer.

Grat that you could finish this little beauty before you started feeling not so well. I hope that you swill soon feel better.
I loved to read about your day out with Knox. My parents were doing exactly the same when my kids were till little - and they also went to the lego department with them :) Sweet memories.

Such a darling finish!! Lovely colors in that one...

Sounds like you had a great day with Knox--my sons were all Lego nuts and I still have all of their old sets up in my attic (patiently waiting the day I have grandkids to dust them off and put them together again :)
