Baking Week

I've not been online much this week, nor have I put in a single stitch in any project. This week is Baking Week! My church holds an annual fundraiser called the Confection Selection for the Tri-Cities Pregnancy Network where we bake all manner of Christmas goodies and have some craft items for sale as well. The line forms and we help our patrons fill boxes of goodies. The box is weighed at the end of the line and the price depends on the weight.  Last year we raised $10,000! That's a lot of baked goods!

We are always encouraged to bake more every year, so this week I've been a slave to my kitchen - escaping for a couple hours mid-day to go to the office to prep the bank deposit and get payroll done.

Here is the state of my kitchen last night:

So far I've baked 8 dozen cookies, made 8 batches of gingerbread dough for a friend to roll into gingerbread men, made 3 pounds of fudge and 250 cake balls, and 25 loaves of cinnamon swirl bread. Some of the smaller loaves of bread don't make the cut for the sale and end up in my freezer for our own Christmas morning.

Next week should be almost back to normal considering it's December and there's so much Christmas stuff to do! But I do have a wonderful finish to share, so stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!

That's a lot of baking, but for a great cause.
I'm going to bake here today too, with Christmas music blaring. :)

You have a beautiful kitchen -- 8 dozen cookies, my goodness! And it seems like a great Fundraiser for a good cause.

Holy smokes, that's a lot of baking already, and I bet you've only started your baking (overall) for Christmas! That's great that you are so generous with your time and energy in supporting your community!
