Posting at Halftime

I've been watching the National Championship of college football (Clemson vs. Alabama), while catching up on the laundry and getting in a few stitches. It's quite a nice way to spend an evening and it's rather sad that football season is drawing to a close. I'm going to miss it.

The weekend was spent celebrating granddaughter Ilse's 8th birthday. Friday afternoon I picked her up at home and we went shopping at Hobby Lobby to refill her craft supply box. She doesn't get to the craft store very often, so we had to look at everything in every row, lol! And we put together a project to take back to my house to work on. After working on that, Gary and I took her to Five Guys for hamburgers, her choice of restaurants, then home. Saturday morning she returned so we could finish up her project, a pennant banner to hang in her room. And on Sunday after church, we went to her house for a birthday lunch with the family. So much fun hanging out with the grandkids and their other set of grandparents!

While helping Ilse with her craft project, I found a basket of DMC embroidery floss that needed to be put away in bags, an organizing chore I really enjoy. I think I need to go through the stash and make a list of missing colors, but I don't think I'm missing too many.

Well, I did a little test stitch of the January design for the Joyful World SAL, this time 28ct. over one thread.

It's a lot smaller! I do like the size, but I decided I didn't want to do that much over one stitching. So back to the linen stash and I pulled out a piece of 32 ct that had an old hardanger design I never finished. After cutting out the old design and ironing out the linen, I started again.

Stitching over two threads on 32 does make for a smaller design, but think I'd like to do future Joyful World designs on higher count fabric, which I don't have a lot of. But before ordering more linen, I'll see if I can't use up more of my stash.

The game is back after halftime. It's been a fun game to watch so far, especially since I don't really care which team wins. :)

Have a great day!

We are watching the same game. Our son is a huge Alabama fan so I hope they win. He is also a Chicago Bears fan and that has been rough going for him. What a nice day with your granddaughter. When we visit our grandson we always have those special days with lunch at Red robin or Five Guys! He gets to choose. I am not one for over one stitching. I only do it on samplers where it is necessary.

Your day with your granddaughter sounds gorgeous. She must have been thrilled to browse the craft store with you and then crafting together with you.
Stitching over one looks gorgeous because it's so tiny, but I don't like doing it either. I prefer taking a high count fabric rather than stitching over one. Your little fox is coming along great.

Happy Birthday wishes to your granddaughter
I've resisted buying new fabric and decided to stick with some I already had for January so I could get started, as i'll be doing them individually I can change fabric count for each one to get the colour I want and use up old stuff and save me some pennies too lol

What a wonderful day with your granddaughter. Your January SAL is looking great. I plan to stitch each one individually, over one on 25ct.

What a cute stitch of the fox and crow! You should put some little trees all around them. I am going to miss football season too. I enjoy stitching while watching our home team play! I need to update my threads too.

How nice to spend craft time with your granddaughter! There is something so soothing about organizing stitching supplies.
I think over two is the right choice 😊
I hope that you are having a great week!

The stitching does look better on the smaller count.
