A Little of This

The street view of my house is much happier these days now that the tulips have begun to bloom. I need to come up with a plan for a nicer display later in the season. Perhaps the daylilies will do better this summer.

I received an email from Nordic Needle that the frame I want is backordered. No indication how long it will take until they have more. Ugh. I was hoping to get it and start that new VS retreat project on it. Not much I can do about that other than wait and hope it comes before I leave.

There’s plenty to keep me busy! Kirsten participated in her first track meet last week. Don’t you know she strained her knee in her first race. This is a problem she seems to have periodically – when she forgets to stretch and keep up on her strengthening exercises.

Over the weekend DH and I drove over to the Salem, OR area to attend his cousin’s wedding at St. Innocent Winery. What a lovely place for a wedding! Bobby and Linda (groom and bride) were soooo happy, their kids were happy, their families were happy, it was truly a joyous celebration. DH’s brother, Steve, recently retired and built a new home in Lowell, OR, just east of Eugene and they hosted us overnight. What a treat to wake in the morning to a beautiful view of Dexter Reservoir!

On the way home we had to make a stop at the famous (at least among local beer aficionados) Ninkasi Brewery in Eugene. I had their cream of mushroom soup which was chock full of mushrooms, lovely portobello mushrooms that I even needed a knife to cut into smaller chunks – YUMMO! The beer was pretty good too, although I do prefer wine. It’s just that visiting local microbrews is becoming a favorite pastime of DH and my son. So I deferred to him and we did not get up to Heirloom Roses before they closed for the day. I thought I’d save him some shipping costs, as long as we were in the area.

Oh well, that’s gonna cost him. Open-mouthed smile

Your tulips are so big already! They are only just starting to pop through the ground here.

I was in Oregon once when I was 12 to visit a great aunt, and I will always remember the beautiful scenery! What a beautiful picture!

Hopefully your frame isn't delayed too long and shows up in time and for the retreat! I'm looking forward to hear how it works out for you.

Your tulips are beautiful Von! I can't wait until mine are open but it won't be anytime soon. They're hiding from the cold!

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog, Von! I haven't been here for a while, though I do follow your blog. I love your tulips! Spring has sprung here too, and the trees are in bloom. What beauty. Speaking of which, I loved getting peeks into your cruise. What wonderful memories! Great photography!
