Fall Garden

Our beautiful fall has turned its face away from us, giving us a very cold, wet shoulder. Gardening season is coming to an end and I haven't quite finished everything on my to do list. The extended weather report is giving me some hope that there is good weather ahead to plant some bulbs and maybe even pop some of those extra iris rhizomes into the empty ground of the recently dug corner. My lovely, rose guru friend, Cindy, gave me a couple of roses that were crowding her garden a couple of weeks ago. I did get them planted and the old rose is looking pretty good, time will tell on Nicole Carol Miller.

I ventured out into the damp garden this morning to capture a few images in the gray, subdued light.

With the onset of gray days and putting my garden to bed, I'm anticipating spending some time with needle and thread once again. But for right now I have to get my little girlie busy with her school day. :)

Lovely pictures. Fall is also rounding out her time with us. We woke yesterday to frost on the grass and the radiators humming and putting off that strange, first-heating-of-the-season smell.

That nasty frost last week did my poor roses in. Lucky my planting was done. Now it will be dreaming of next years spring...
