Saturday Salutations

Taking a break in the action of preparing for Graceful Dinner tonight to bring you a short update on A Quaker Study. Understanding the popularity of these designs is beginning to dawn on me; Quaker pieces with their smaller motifs and single colors are very relaxing to stitch after a busy day! Not much progress, but I have decided to repeat the blackish overdye in the alphabet portion. So far I like it.

Yesterday evening after I dropped my boys and some friends off at a church activity, I remembered the gals at smocking guild mentioning a new lns in Richland, just down the street, Needful Needlecrafts. The shop hours are limited, as the owners have to keep food on the table and work at other jobs, but my timing was good as they're open Friday evenings. I had a wonderful chat with the owners. They're making an effort to stock Washington and Northwest designers, so I jumped at the chance to let them know about Lacey Thread Designs! They have classes planned, including one on stretching your needlework. I'm going to be first on the list for that one. :) I've done some, but would appreciate some hands-on help and expert tips.

O.k. now back to work!

Good luck tonight, Von!

Von, I hope you have a really lovely time this evening. I too love stitching Quakers because I just LOVE them and I also hate changing colors so no more Just Nans for me that's for sure! Have a great evening. Lots of Love Patti xxx

I agree about stitching Quakers being very relaxing, but I don't understand why. In the past when I've had to stitch a background or large area with one color, I'd be bored to tears, so I have to conclude that the shapes and geometry must be involved too in stimulating our brains just right...or I'm getting old?!?!:)

Hi, Von, Your colors for the Quaker are great. I love stitching quakers, too. They are just beautiful, as yours can attest. What a good friend you are to mention Carols designs to the shop. I know every contact helps. Keep stitching! Hugs, Deb

Thanks for letting Needful Needlecrafts know about us! I'll have Amy put a post card in the mail to them tomorrow! Lucky you having two shops near you! I can only keep hoping that one day I will have one closer than 45 minutes away!!

I spent three days on the computer and have finally finished the layout for My Child's Heart...whew! My mouse hand is actually sore today!

I'm in the process of doing my first Quaker and I couldn't agree with you more. Very relaxing.

I like the black of the lettering, although I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of how the entire project looks...hint, hint...:)

It must be the geometry and the fact that it is a pattern and so there's not AS much thinking that has to be done. Although, the danger is getting lulled into a sleepy frog fest. I agree with Maren, let's see a full shot! :)

Those are great colours you chose for your Quaker Study. Even stitching one length of thread at the end of a busy day is soothing to me!
