Summoned

This little envelope arrived while I was in Hawaii and was tucked away in a kitchen corner. Luckily I found it before the end of the month, filled it out and hand delivered it to the courthouse. Now I don't mind doing my civic duty, but I do find it odd that this is the third time I've received a summons while many have never received even one!

My first experience with jury duty resulted in my sitting on a week-long trial of a man charged with child molestation. Not an easy one to hear for a young mother of two (or three, I can't remember).

The second summons came when I was 36 weeks pregnant with twins! They could not totally excuse me, but could delay it for a year. When the year was up, the court graciously excused me from all but one week's service. My number was called that week and I dutifully sat around the courthouse for a day. I was almost seated on a district court trial, but it was dismissed after the jury was chosen.

This time I was excused from all but one week in January - the week of the 19th. So last night I made the call to see if my group number was chosen. It was NOT! And I did a little happy dance around the living room!!!

I am sure though that just as the dice seem to favor me in Bunco, my number for jury duty will come up again!

I was only chosen once. It was for a sexual assault trial and the defence excused me. I got the impression it was because of my profession as a lab tech.

What a fun way to make braid. I watched the video and that is really amazing! Do you know where to get one of those discs? I've never seen anything like it.

Most everyone in my family has been called but luckily no one has had to sit on a jury yet! I think you have more than done your civic duty, Von! Time to nab in someone else!

Don't jinx me-one of the last things I want to do. Glad you 'got out' of it. Can't you tell the judge you don't think you'd be able to be on the jury-like I wonder about bathroom things-lol. Oh well. Bri had to go a year or so ago and got dismissed. Sean got called and he was up in State College.

I've been summoned twice and yet always get excused. Just once I'd really, really like to be a juror on an actual trial. lol. I know, bass ackwards from just about everyone else.

Love your braid!
