Coming Along

Smocking this little summery top for baby dgd Ilse is coming along pretty well. This is the front which is just about finished, then on to the back. It feels so good to have a smocking project in the forefront!
A few weeks back I won a little pillow that Dawn was giving away on her blog. It's found the perfect spot on this shelf in my sewing area!

Over the weekend DH and I attended a family wedding in Issaquah, Washington (near Seattle). It was great fun catching up with some of the Paulson clan, celebrating the marriage of Amy and John (Amy is the stepdaughter of my DH's brother), and enjoying the absolutely perfect Seattle summer day! The wedding was hosted by one of the bride's best friends at her home in the Issaquah hills, a beautiful home snuggled into about five acres of wooded gorgeousness. My brother-in-law and his wife have worked for the last year to prepare the grounds for the wedding, including last-minute filling of a hundred mole hills that encroached upon the site for the ceremony. Oh the joys of hosting a wedding - I'm still not completely over the stress of my daughter's wedding seven years ago! :D

Beautiful little top you are working on. I love seeing the close-up picture with all the detail! And very cute pillow that you won too. That's definitely become my motto lately :-D

Ooooh, I definitely like the delicate pink that you are using for the smocking and the roses. Beautiful work! It's nice to see you back into smocking after a little time away.
