Falling Down

Leaves which shaded my house all summer are now beginning to cover the yard, blowing into all the little nooks and crannies around the house and even around the rock that sits near the front door.

The Virginia Creeper is glowing, especially in the early morning light. I know this because Fritz needs to be taken outside soon after I finish the first of my morning duties. :)

While many of my friends in the East have been experiencing an extended summer, we're having a glorious autumn. The air is crisp and cool. We've had some wind and rain, but please don't wish it away. Here on the dry side of the state, we have had 4.3 inches of rain. Yes, you read that correctly, just a little more than four inches of rain - all year. Fall will bring more rain, but we'll probably end the year with a total of six or seven inches of rain. Thank the Lord for irrigation!

The last couple of days have seen only minor progress on Acorns & Threads, so no more pics of that yet. My Wednesday after school hours have me teaching the Explorers group (ages 9-11) of the American Heritage Girls (kinda like Girl Scouts) at my church. The first badge that we're working this year is Needlearts! We've been practicing the cross stitch on plastic canvas for two weeks, and next week I plan to start a project on aida cloth. Following that, we'll be doing some traditional embroidery. It's quite a challenge for some of the girls to keep a needle threaded, but a few have some experience and are doing quite well. It's a great group of girls and we're going to have some fun this year!

Wednesday morning I did a little something for myself. Some of the papers that go with the kids' schoolwork are stored in binders. This year I found clear-view binders in storage and I slipped some of my patterned papers under the clear plastic cover. Now I have attractive binders on my desk, not boring white. :D

Love your binders, Von! What a great idea to insert decorative paper. I'll have to keep that in mind.

What a great idea for the binders. I have some work and that would help jazz them up.

Beautiful binders and pictures, Von. I like to decorate everything, too!
