New Family Member

So I get a call from DH as I'm finishing my Costco shopping. "Hey, meet me over behind The Outback restaurant," he says. Wondering what in the world is behind The Outback that he's interested in, I arrive a few minutes later. As I turn into the parking lot, there is Gary's car and parked next to it is another car with a sign on top "Min. Schnauzer puppies for sale". And there he is cuddling this little charmer. I knew he was a goner and that puppy was coming home with us!

The younger set of kids have been wanting a puppy sooooo badly for several years. I have been backpedaling the whole puppy business. There are too many bodies in the house now, how can I add another?! And a puppy - you know what that entails - messes and chewed up belongings, walking the dog, finishing the back yard fence, etc.

Well, Kirsten was immediately in love with him and even I had to admit that it could be fun having a dog again. But the thought of surprising the boys with a puppy was too good to pass up. And they were surprised! They still can't believe the puppy is really ours. :D The twins ran for their cameras so they could share pics with their friends and cousins immediately, they called their best friend, Keith, who's been telling them that they need a dog, lol!

A name will be needed. The previous owners called him Gouda - they had a thing for cheese. That's cute, but I think the kids want to call him something else. He's had two shots and his first grooming. We got to meet his mother and two brothers. Mom was very well behaved and healthy looking.

And so it begins again. A new baby in the house!

Oh dear! Yes, I succumbed to my family's plea for a new puppy earlier this summer too. Once you look into their eyes, it's all over! I hope you are thoroughly enjoying him!

Oh my goodness, Von. I don't even like puppies and I'm smitten! :D As a Gouda resident, however, I agree that another name would suit him better. He doesn't look at all like the cheese around here. ;)

I'm looking forward to lots of updates on his progress - and lots of pictures of that adorable little face!!!

Your new addition is so cute! Of course, I'm partial, because I have a mini-schnauzer as well. My Chloe May is 4 1/2 years old, and we wouldn't trade her for anything. She did outgrow the chewing and the digging for the most part. But, she still likes to chew on the handles of bags and bookpacks (that webbing stuff) and we went through a LOT of leashes! She is the sweetest and she doesn't shed! We're hooked and you will be too.
