Summer heat waves getting the best of you? Well, I have just the photos for you! These were taken on Glacier Day of our Alaska cruise. It was a beautifully sunny day, but as we approached Hubbard Glacier the air temperature dropped quite a lot and I was really glad I'd put those ear muffs in my jacket pocket!
It was quite a wonderful day for someone who loves the color blue! When we finally made our way out of Yakutat Bay, DH and I went back to our room to see the view from our verandah. It was amazing to hear the snap, crackle, pop of the bergy bits (bits of icebergs) in the water. I sat out there for quite awhile, soaking in the sun.
It was wonderful having dd Melanie home for a couple of days. Tuesday I took her back to Pendleton and Wednesday the company sent her crew out to Grangeville, Idaho to fight a fire nearby. Her crew does a lot of the backburning and mop up. So it'll be another two weeks before we see her again.
I've been working away on Heather's Hello Neighbor RR and hope to have a progress pic real soon!

Best of luck to Melanie fighting fires!
Beautiful pictures, Von. Thanks for sharing.
Hope all goes well with Melanie.
What gorgeous pictures!
Von your pictures are amazing, it certainly looks and sounds as though you and your DH had a wonderful holiday. Glad that all is well with Melanie, I will keep her in my thoughts.

I hope the two weeks till you see Melanie again will pass quickly. :)
These are some gorgeous pictures. It hasn't been hot here, but it's simply wonderful to see something so unspoiled and beautiful!
Oh Von - such wonderful photos! We could use some of that ice and snow in Minnesota right now. We're experiencing an unusually dry and and hot summer; haven't had much rain.
Glad to hear Melanie is okay and that she had time to visit at home. Good luck with the Merchant of Venice!
gorgeous pics Von!!
Totally awesome photos! You've had a great year of traveling.
Sean's pal and his entire extended family just went on an Alaskan cruise too (for his grandparents 50th anniversary-that's all I know). I think you were there before they were, but if there was a family from Penna. on board that may have been them.
So glad to hear all is well with Melanie. What a relief it must have been for you to have her safe and sound again.
Thank you for the 'cool' pictures Von. What a lovely thought on a day like today (86F at 5:15 a.m.).
Oh how I wish I could have seen the performance of "The Merchant of Venice" - a fun time for the kids and a proud moment for the parents.
Hi Von, your photos are truly amazing, thanks for sharing them with us :)
I came across your blog trying to get more information about the Tri-Cities area. However you rarely seem to be there. Your pictures are beautiful.
Wonderful pictures, so dramatic. :)
Those pics really do make m feel cooler! Thanks Von and hope all are well!

Hi Von!
I want to thank you (again!) for sharing all these wonderful places you see. Your pics are amazing!
With the heat we've had lately, seeing ice was great. I think I'll watch the ice age soon... lol!
Take care, Lili
Noe those pictures do cool me off and they are beautiful!
Von, These pictures are so beautiful, I could feel the ice! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Deb
What amazing pictures, its hard to imagine that you were right there taking those! I'll be sending good thoughts for Melanie's safe arrival back home again.
What great photos of Alaska!! Oh how I envy you getting to go there and see everything!! I have never been there but I do have a cousin living in Anchorage. It is truly beatuiful and your photos even help me cool off here in hot hot Texas! Debby :)
Gosh, I just love all your travels. And those Alaskan pics, just breathtaking.
And dd Melanie, she must be leading a pretty hectic life right now. Hope she is ok.
Loved your crazy quilted heart too... well done.
I had a lot of fun cruising your blog, catching up on your life. It was great having a visit with you tonight. I can't believe how much travel you and Gary are getting in. It looks like your life is full and blessed. Peeked around at your roses, I just planted Sharifa Asma, they say she does good in the heat. I just came back from a trip to Heirloom last week and hit their 50% off sale.
I love your photos, it must be incredible to see these for real WOW !!
