Race Day

The day of the Cadet Pinewood Derby race has arrived with sunshine and a rush to get the wheels and weights on before it's time to leave the house. At least this year the final painting was accomplished two whole days before race day! More pics and final results to come. . .

I wanted to thank you, dear friends, for your enthusiasm for the SB ornament project, which I'm doing with my friend, Connie. My plan is to stitch all eight on one piece of linen, so it will be a couple more years before this project is complete. Yes, Lelia, there are charms that go with this piece too, and I hope to purchase them as my budget allows - they're pricey little devils! I'm not using the linen called for in the magazine, but a 32 ct piece I found in my stash that I thought would work o.k. The colors, as originally designed, are very subdued; the DMC conversion colors are much brighter and sometimes altogether different colors from the overdyed floss specified. As you say, Carol, it looks fine (and I have had to make some changes myself), I've just been quite surprised at the differences. Connie has gone ahead and bought the overdyes, while I'm going to persevere in my determination to stitch from my stash.

Last night I stitched more on my "P" and I am almost finished. So the plan on this Saturday is to spend lots of time on my laundry with stitching and blogging breaks.

Those SB charms are terribly pricey, aren't they?!

How'd the race go? My brother and I always wanted to enter one of those, but never did.

Best wishes with the Pinewood Derby! I will come back soon to see the results - the car looks great!
