This year the Cadet Pinewood Derby was held at Sunnyside Christian School with troops from Sunnyside, Zillah, Kennewick, and Spokane participating - all towns here in Eastern Washington. (The Cadets is a scouting-type organization through our church.) Neither Kevin or Kyle brought home a trophy, but they did place in the top ten for speed. In this group of cars, Kevin and Kyle's are at the bottom of the photo. Link to more photos
Kirsten went along for the opportunity to play with the sisters of some other Cadets who may have tagged along as well. So the four youngest were gone with Dad, DS Geoff was at work and DD Melanie was at karate all morning - that left me home Alone! I very much enjoyed the quiet of the house and getting seven loads of laundry processed and some ironing done.
On the way home from Sunnyside, the gang did a little geocaching. DH always tries to do a little caching when out and about with the kids. Here they are at a spot in Grandview - a pretty good-looking group IMHO, lol!

Looks like a lot of fun! I'm glad that everyone had a good time. I can't wait to see your finished P!
Very cool Von! I wish I could have been there to go geocaching. I think this is such a cool idea. Plus your weather looks a lot more pleasant than ours was this weekend!
Yes indeed, you have a fine looking family, Von!!
It looks like you all had a great weekend, Von. It must have been bliss, having the house for yourself just like that!
Looks like your family had a great time - how wonderful!
Your week-end sounded packed with family activities. Nice to hear you got a break (laundry & stitching) with some alone time.
The derby cars are so interesting! I remember my older brothers were into that. Nice to view your photos. Thankx for sharing.
Enjoy the day
How cool are those cars!!! I love them. I wish we had something around here like that. I have a feeling it just isn't too popular in my neck of the woods though I know my son and DH would enjoy it. It looks like a great time was had and you have a lovely family.
Great pictures, Von. Thanks vor sharing.
Congrats to both boys! Top ten finishes are considering outstanding in NASCAR, so they really must count in Pinewood Derby too!
Your boys did well!
I remember the pine derby races with the boy scouts. Sean had fun making his car with his dad. Thanks for the memories.
The photo of the kiddos is really cute! They all look alike.
What a wonderful family pic! They all look so nice!
Thanks for sharing!
Sleek looking machines! We didn't win either, congrats on the top 10 finishes though.
