Happy Easter Weekend

Saturday afternoon DD Mystie's family came to Nana's to color eggs with Kirsten. Here is Hans and me helping to reach the next color. After the eggs had dried, I hid them outside. The weather was cloudy with a chilly breeze, but fine enough for an egg hunt - if it didn't take too long.

Here is Jaeger on his own little egg hunt in the house! Inside his eggs are bits of dried dates, not candy. I did have two special chocolate bunnies for my boys to take home in their baskets. Mom and Dad probably enjoyed Jaeger's though!

Shortly after the egg hunt, they had to leave for home. Then the heavens open and dumped rain on us for about half an hour before slowly coming to a drizzle, then ending. Sure glad we were done with our outdoor fun - but DS Brendan decided it was ideal weather for walking to the minimart, about a mile away.

Easter Sunday we celebrated with our church congregation in worship. The music from the choirs, instruments, and congregation was so inspiring and beautiful. Back home I prepared a nice ham dinner and all 8 of us actually sat at the same table for dinner! That doesn't happen very often.

Then I decided to sit in my stitching chair and finish my Summer Spot, since I missed stitching on Thursday. Before finishing I examined my stitching and the picture of the piece on the front cover and found that I had trouble reading the chart and used the wrong color a couple of places. I ripped out those stitches, and quickly replaced them with the right color. Hurray! It's finished. I'm thinking that instead of stitching another Spot, which I don't currently have in my stash, I'll make Thursday my Drawn Thread day and work on a UFO - Convent Garden. This poor design has been hanging on my wall unfinished for several years now and it's too beautiful to be left there any longer!

Love your "Spot" and glad to hear that you had a good Resurrection Day. We had a great day too, with all the family together at one table, 20 of us!!! We didn't even have any rain to speak of, tho the wind was very cold!

Hi Von, sounds like you had a wonderful family time over Easter, the pics of your grandsons are wonderful.

wahoo, well done on your Spot finish. I made a small start on Spring spot over the long weekend, and since it will be the last of the Spots I need to stitch, I had the same thoughts as you -making Thursdays Drawn Thread project day. I think I might start Summer into Autumn next :)

hope you have a happy week!

I love seeing the pictures or your grandsons ~ what sweeties! And congrats on finishing your Spring Spot ~ very pretty. It sounds like you had a lovely Easter weekend. My baby (13 years old) decided he was too old for an Easter egg hunt but not old enough for the Easter chocolates that come along with it!

I love the pics of your grandsons! And your egg-coloring setup looks much less chaotic than ours did! Glad you had a chance to enjoy your outdoor fun before the rain. We were very lucky with the weather over the long weekend.

Looks like you all had fun. I love the idea of Jaeger crawling around and searching for his eggs filled with bits of dried dates- I am sure he was thrilled. We had to hunt eggs inside because it rained in the morning but were able to have our "Easter Fire" as it cleareed up later in the day. I love your Summer spot. Reading blog's is the worst ,or best, enabeling.

Hi Von, thankx for your comment on my blog. Tocatta looks tough!! I'm looking forward to more of your convent garden progress pictures -- btw, I've got a few DT in my stash ... sampler gameboard, the season spots, perinneal border, random thoughts, French Garden, button tree ... actually, at my snail pace -- a life-time of stitching : )

Ohhhh, Von... what precious, sweet grandchildren you have! I loved you sharing your Easter with us. I adored it, and it brought back memories of when my grandkids were little. I still cherish them at every stage. There's nothing on earth quite as wonderful as grandchildren. Mine were "miracle" grandchildren and filled a void after losing our oldest daughter. Will write about it sometime on my blog.

Oh, and not to ignore your Spot of Summer! I love, love, love it! I love everything by The Drawn Thread. Have done many and have many to do!

Sounds like you had a lovely Easter weekend, Von! We had a really nice one, as well. Terry and I traveled up to visit my parents and we had an early Easter dinner on Saturday with my mom, dad, me, Terry, my two step-sisters, my grandmother and my youngest step-sisters friend. I helped my dad cook so my mom didn't have to worry about it (she gets rather nerve-wracked about large groups of people). A lovely time was had by all!
