This and That

Kim had a fun challenge to share our morning coffee cup. Generally, I use either of these two, depending on which one is still in the dishwasher. The floral one I bought at Butchart Gardens in Victoria, B.C. two years ago when DH and I were there celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The smaller china cup is from a set that belonged to my late MIL. I always adored this china set and was thrilled it was given to us. For awhile I had it packed away, but a few months ago decided to bring it out to use more often to celebrate every-day life!

Saturday's cleaning efforts in my bedroom resulted in a much less dusty and a little less cluttered room. We still have a long way to go, and then there's Melanie's room. That's something I don't like to think about!! One day soon we're going to have to rent a dumpster to begin cleaning the back yard before we relandscape, and when we do, there will be more decluttering done in the house and garage too. How quickly stuff collects and becomes clutter, even when trying to control the stuff!

I haven't made much progress in my stitching, but I have done a little. Monday evening Connie jeered to me in an email that she was starting the third of the Shepherd's Bush Christmas ornaments (from JSC ornament issues) that we've been SALing together this year. Well, I can't let her get too far ahead, so I pulled some floss and this is what I've accomplished the last two evenings.

And at lunchtime I've stitched another letter and a half on Stitch. Annemarie, the blue floss is Splendor silk by Rainbow Gallery, color S914. On Sunday afternoon, while visiting with friends and family at DSIL's birthday brunch, I did a little smocking on a Grady gown. I think that will be my Sunday project for awhile. The smocking isn't worth photographing right now as I'm having difficulty with it - the pleating isn't very good in places.

We have a congregational business meeting tonight, tomorrow evening is Bunco, so very little stitching will be done. Hope all of you find lots of time to stitch! Love and appreciate all your comments, dear readers!

love the mug challenge! If I were to show mine it would be one of those huge blue plastic Dunkin' Donuts travel mugs! Truth be told, it is two of them! I drink most of one in my Jeep on my way to work, and the other during the morning at my office - yours are just way too small for me! LOL

Cleaning your bedroom sounds exactly like what I'm doing here. I always wonder how much stuff there gets in the house with children. And not to forget: all my stitching stuff... One carbidgebag full of stuff left my house already, but more have to follow. And now the cleaning, blll.

have a nice day (it's early in the morning here)

Cleaning... yuck, but that has to be done...
That splendor silk is very beautiful! I just looove to see you're still stitching Xmas projects... So am I... What years of JCS are these from? I feel like stitching those too...
Your mugs are so different! I think you're absolutely right to enjoy beautiful china everyday. I do too with my tea cups, and it's an everyday small happiness moment. We all need it!
Take care, dear Von!

Ah yes, spring cleaning. Two rooms down, three to go in our little house. Hope your cleaning doesn't get in the way of your wonderful stitching. The XMas ornie is looking good! I love that blue china cup, by the way.

My mother always says - "you can't take it with you." I'm glad you are enjoying those cups that are special to you.

I look forward to seeing your progress on your next SB Christmas Ornament!

P.S. I'm still working on exchange projects - haven't stitched on my spot this week!

Thanks for showing off your cups. I have a "thing" for china and both of yours are lovely.
Can't wait for a new pic of your Grady gown. They are so darling- if I had a little girl I'd be begging one off you-along with flowers for her wedding someday:-)

Oh, I haven't stitched in so long now, it's not even funny. I'm hoping to get some in this weekend while Terry is working. I'm going in with him to provide moral support for their team of 3 while I stitch. :)

its cup knows is of mouth opened like the one of my husband, it uses cups of abieta mouth then if they do not beat to him to the nose and it does not like, sua cups are romantics

I really like your floral mug Von, really cheerful and would make any drink enjoyable. The other more delicate and subtle design is very attractive and I like the fact that it has cherished sentimental value due to its history - so its very special in its own right.

Happy stitching hours :-)

PS you're a star doing your spring-cleaning - its sooo therapeutic!

Hugs Ali xx

I love the fact that you use your previous cups - and I especially adore the pansy mug :) Mum has had all of her 'good' stuff packed away in cupboards, and they never see daylight - I have a different attitude, I guess ... I want to enjoy using them while I can, and they make me feel good to see them out and used :) Your WIP's are coming along great - love the Splendor colour in the Stitch banner as well - and you're meeting the SB ornie challenge head-on haha ;)
