Spot Thursday

I actually stitched along with Katrina, Kath, and Cathy last night on my Drawn Thread Spot of Spring. Probably one more stitching session on this one and it will be done! One problem I've had in switching projects every couple of days is remembering that the DT designs usually use one thread of floss in the needle. I picked up my needle last night and immediately loaded two threads and stitched the letters before realizing I should have used only one! Oh well, I wasn't going to let the frogs visit and just moved on to the sunflowers and used one thread. I think it looks fine and will have to remember to use two threads when stitching the last two letters, lol!

Here's my progress on the Shepherd's Bush ornament I'm stitching with Connie. I'm planning to continue stitching this one over the weekend. Sorry about the blurry pic. I'll do better next time!

Did anyone else see Vero's blog yesterday? She featured this gorgeous book, Where Women Create: Inspiring Work Spaces of Extraordinary Women. While waiting for a prescription to be filled, I drove over to Barnes and Noble to see if they had it in stock. I was in luck! And it was on sale. It's just full of beautiful photos of studios belonging to designers in a variety of arts. I haven't had an opportunity to spend quality time with this beauty, but you can be sure it's going to be close at hand.

DS Brendan is still sleeping this morning following his appointment yesterday with the dentist. Four teeth removed with no complications other than Brendan needing more than the usual amount of novacaine. Seems he's full of nerves, lol! He handled it all very well, especially considering this was his first time having his mouth deadened. I did give him the pain meds, but I doubt he'll need any today. I'll be saving those for when his braces are put on.

Your DT piece is looking great - when I did the Summer into Autumn one, it took me ages to get used to just having one thread in the needle ... didn't like it one bit! :P Your SB ornie is coming along great too :D

Yours spot is lovely Von. And your SB ornie is going great guns too. Those frequent thread changes can be tiring though.... I still love SB though.

Poor son and his mouth.... my youngest has, and is going through all of that. She has to visit the oral surgeon again soon for more surgery on the front of her mouth, then have a tooth that is growing in the roof of her mouth bought down. All a bit yuk for me.

Love your progress pics! Good luck to your son on his continuing saga of othodontia - I went through it all, too. It is worth it in the end. Really.

Von, your DT Spot is adorable! Who cares about the two strands of floss - looks good to me!! And the SB ornaments.... soooo nice!!! (note to self, kit those up and stitch em up!!) LOL Thanks for the inspiration!

You're right, Von -- the letters look just fine stitched with two strands of floss. I like your "que sera sera" attitude; I still let my OCD take over and frog everything so it will be "exactly like the chart calls for" -- crazy I know! You are my new role model! :)

Hi Von! Your stitching looks great as always. oh! I remember those orthodontist days! Ugh! Poor Brendan. I had braces for 7 years, plus had teeth pulled,to make room for the teeth to be straightened. But when you're all done-wa-la, a beautiful smile!
Thanks for all the comments on my blog! I love to hear from you!

You've done a lovely bunch of stitching lately, Von! I'm glad I was able to catch up and see these beautiful pictures.

Once Brendan gets into braces, I have a great threat for you to use on him. If he doesn't do it correctly and wear the retainer when he's supposed to afterwards, he'll have to go back into braces as an adult like I did. It's MUCH MORE painful as an adult! ;)

Hi Von, your Spot looks lovely, not much left to go now :).

I had a giggle when I read your post to my blog the other day about the Don't worry be happy song - it brings back memories for me too.

You have so many comments already, I hope you get to mine...
congratulations on the birthday of Melanie. I hope she had a nice birthday and a great party! 18 is a beautiful age if you enjoy life. You have such big kids! But luckely a 'little' one too, though she'll be 9! Well, you can cuddle with your grandchildren anyway.
good luck with all birthdaystress and relax with your nice projects.

Lovely stitching Von. I know how confusing it can be switching between projects. I was stitching a SB stocking on 18ct Floba and when I went back to stitching something on 35ct it felt so weird. I am used to stitching on fine counts but after the 18ct I could barely see the strands on the 35ct. LOL. I got used to it pretty quick but it was still a shock to the system.VBG.
