A Trunk Show?

Lili has asked me to explain exactly what a trunk show is. Many of us don't have a wonderful LNS near us, so we haven't had the opportunity to see one or even find out about them!

A trunk show begins when a designer and shop owners talk together and set up dates for the show. Then the designer will put together a selection of her beautifully finished designs and carefully pack them in a box. Then this box is sent to the first LNS for a period of time, after which the shop owner repacks it and sends it on to the next LNS. And on it goes! It's great for building customer good will for both designer and shop owner, and very inspiring for us stitchers!

This link will take you to a VS newsletter. Scroll down and you will find a photo of a VS trunk show at the Nordic Needle in Fargo, North Dakota. Thea has two shows currently traveling North America.

Today's pictures are of projects that are a little more approachable to those stitchers who have done only cross-stitch, but would like to learn some new stitches. This is a wall hanging created from three of the herbal sachet kits. They are smaller in size, about 4x6 inches.

This series of photos features the Birthday Bellpulls. The birthstone and birth flower of the month are featured in every design. And if you've been wanting to try hardanger, the little heart at the end is a great introduction! Be sure to click on the pic for a closer look.

Stay tuned - there's plenty more to come!!

How lucky you are to have all of those lovely VS pieces at your fingertips! I'm enjoying the photos and can only imagine how much fun it must be to inspect the "trunk" before it moves along to its next destination. :)

OK, Von, stop it right now! Every time you post a photo I'm steadily adding more to my wishlist ;P haha. Have to admit I hadn't really looked twice at these bellpulls, but I'm now changing my mind ... hmmm :D This really is a visual treat for all of us :))

These pieces look wonderful! Are you sure you will be able to send them to the next person? ;-)

Couldn't access the comments yesterday! My puter gave me error messages twice when I tried to have bigger photos, but I did visit and I wanted to thank you for your explanations, and for sharing.
Take care!
