Dead Laptop

ARGH! I should have paid more attention to that wonky stuff my computer was doing last week. But we never think our beloveds will betray us and really die!! But it did. I'd been thinking about doing a back up. If my homeschooling program info is totally gone - I will committ harikari.

My resident computer guys, DH and DS, are going to take it to DH's office tonight and work on it there. They think they can save my info by getting it onto the hard drive of another computer and reformatting my laptop. I'm going to owe them big time - of course, if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be in this position at all. I'd be living my merry little life, with little or no computer complications, lol!!

Anyway, I have plenty of other computers I can use. Right now I'm on DH's laptop. There are a couple of old things the younger kids use if worse comes to worst. We have something like five or six of the things in this house now!! But I miss my own computer with my passwords and log ins, my stuff!!

Yesterday I spent the day cleaning house, at least the main living areas. We had several friends over for dinner so I spent a little extra time on things I hadn't done for quite awhile - like clean the top of the refrigerator. DH had to install a new seat on the toilet - good thing we had company coming, or that little job would have been on the Honey-do list for at least a month!! Guess we should be doing this at least once a month - lesson learned, lol!! We had a delightful time - no one looked at the top of the fridge, but I felt better knowing it was clean! The toilet was used and I was happy I didn't have to worry about my friends falling off the throne, lol!

So I didn't stitch yesterday, and I've spent most of this afternoon cooking dinner and catching up on blogs. But later this evening I'll be back to work on my Shepherd's Bush ornament. I'm almost finished with the second one, then I think I'll go back to finish the last of the baby ornaments.

Good luck with your laptop Von and thanks for the hardanger encouragement. I will probably sign up for one of the VS classes later this year as I've heard good things about them.

Oh no, there seems to be an epidemic of crashing computers among our bloggers ... I think I'd better run a backup quick! ;) Sorry to hear about your computer woes - it'd kill me if my PC died ... mind you, I'd get a heck of a lot more stitching done! LOL.

Hope you are able to get your laptop back in working order soon! I'd love to see a pic of the Shepherd's Bush ornament you are working on...they have such wonderful designs, don't they?

VON! I have internet access right here at my workstation in SD. Hallelujah! So sorry to hear about the laptop crash. Sometimes I think that laptops are alot more prone to those type of happenings, getting moved around and jostled so much. My parents had a never ending litany of crashes and rebuilds with their first laptop.

I put a few stitches in SB#2 on the plane. I don't think I like the color, the pink in the angel dress seems much too bright. I may redo it with a blended needle. Can't remember the thread numbers, the pattern is at the hotel.

It is warm here today in SD. Such an odd feeling going from 40 degrees to almost 80 in one day. I have Bird of Paradise flowering outside my hotel window. It feels so strange. The class is going well, nothing too demanding yet. Had lunch with a couple of gals from Glendale. Figured out that there are two Needlework Shops within 10 minutes of here, I hope to get to them soon!

I'll keep you posted on how things are going now that I know I can keep in contact.
Love,
Connie

Ooh. I don't know what I would do if my computer died. I (very scary!!) am the resident computer person, so this is not good news!! Isn't it a nice feeling when things are clean (even if no one looks at them). I shudder to think what the top of my fridge looks like! LOL.

Von - I remember which SB ornament it is now! Gosh I have such a short memory. Old age is creeping up on me! :)

Ahhh... computers. This is why there will never be a shortage of work for me. ROFL. Actually, I spent several hours backing my hard drive up the other day after it nearly died on me. With the photo data I have on there, I would pay to have the drive recovered, if I had to!

For the sake of your homeschooling information, I hope that they can just pop your drive into another computer and retrieve the data. :)

Evil computers!
I enjoyed the part about toilet seats... this is one of the only moments when I see mmy DH in a bad mood. He must think of all the germs and such... Although he shares an uncommon part of household chores, cleaning the toilets is the one thing he has never done, and certainly will never do! How great he needs me for this! LOL
Take care, dear Von!

First me, now you. Must be something that's contagious. You're luckier for I can't rely on my DH and DS to help me out on this.

argh
I hate working on someone else's computer. I suddenly have two left hands and only 8 fingers.

Your housekeeping story made me laugh. With us, it's the exhaust hood over the stove, which is out of my reach - but Niek's tall brother always comments on it!

sorry to hear of your computer misbehaving on you.

if you are in the cleaning mode, there is a whole house here in need of a touch up, LOL!
