A New Little Valentine

Our 7th grandchild, Gideon Oscar Paulson, was born on Feb. 10! 7 lb 7 oz and 20 inches. He's such a sweet little guy, but I haven't been able to see much of him or hold him yet as he is in the NICU. His mother had gestational diabetes so little Gideon had low blood sugar and has had a couple of respiratory episodes since his birth. He's now regulating his blood sugar like a champ and they're watching his breathing for a little while longer before releasing him. Prayers that he will soon be home!

This weekend I found a couple of freebie designs from Hands On Designs, quick little stitches for Valentines Day. So far I've finished this one:

Obviously, it's "Be Mine", a tiny little thing at 34x29 stitches. I stitched it on 36 ct. Creme Brulee linen with a couple of silk flosses that were in my stash, Northern Lights Silks in Fuschia (dark) and Medium Carnation. I love finding little designs to use some of those fibers that have been languishing in my stash for far too long!

The last couple of days has been warmer and much of the snow has melted, but not all. The sun was beautiful on Monday, but Tuesday was gray and cold again. Now this morning we had freezing rain again and they closed the schools as it's too dangerous for the buses in the neighborhoods - I think this is the 10th day Kennewick schools have been closed this winter, it's surely a new record! Hope this is the last one!

I hope you had a nice Valentine Day with your loved ones! Yesterday we had a little V-Day party at the end of our ESL class, combining the two classes that meet at 9 a.m. Most of the refugees in these classes are Burmese/Karen and most are not fond of sweet treats, but their little children are, lol! And they enjoyed getting together and chatting, trying to keep a lot of it in English. They're such a wonderful group of ladies!

Well, the 17th is coming up and I have a new start planned for Stitch Maynia's Year of Starts and I hope to have good news about Gideon too!  Keep him in your prayers.

Thank you, friends.

Von, Gideon is adorable (and I love the name) and I am so pleased to hear that he is doing so well after a bit of a rocky start. Be Mine is very sweet - love the colour choices. Happy Valentine's Day!

For sure little Gideon will be in my prayers!! Congratulations on his birth. We had a few very nice days , now back to drenching rain. They are worried about mud slides!
