Our friend Vickie asked a question in the comments of my last blog entry, and I thought I would answer it here today, just as an FYI. I've looked at other stitchers' renditions of the Joyful World SAL and wondered about their choices too. :)
So here is a snippet of November. Most of the colors are indeed DMC, but there are a couple of changes. I pulled all the DMC to compare to the photos of the project online, then decided to change the border and corresponding areas to a GAST limited edition, unnamed, I had in my stash. It's a dark variegated brown that contrasts nicely with the other colors. I decided that DMC 414 was too dark of a blue and am using a Silk 'n Colors Heirloom Blue. And for the heart symbol, that is the bluish color leaf, I changed to Weeks Dye Works Cadet. So far, I'm very pleased with how these flosses are playing together in the design!
Awhile back I placed a small order with Picture This Plus for some 32 ct linen. I hadn't heard of this online shop until I started watching a little flosstube, so thought I'd give them a try. It took a couple of weeks to receive the order, which they clearly state on the website will probably be the case, but it still arrived in a reasonable amount of time. And I am quite pleased with the colors of the linen I ordered!
Each piece is 13 x 18 and from left to right are: Ale, Fathom, and Dapple. All the edges are serged, which is always appreciated. I'll be ordering from them again!
Well, here in the Inland PNW, the first rain storm has passed through and right now it's quite sunny. But the wind is picking up and this afternoon we could be getting 50 mph gusts or more, and rain tomorrow. The coast really got hammered last night. I wish all my friends and relatives on the west side a safe ride through the storm with no loss of power and no damage!
Happy stitching everyone!
