Another Jaunt to the LNS

The call from my LNS finally came Friday evening - the "Chalk" shipment was in! WooHoo!

Saturday afternoon, I took a little break and drove to Richland for my two skeins of "Chalk".

"Chalk" floss for A Moment in Chalk
I've made a little progress on this one: the floral motifs on each side of "moment" are complete, and the word "has" is finished. I just love it.

Now, I didn't want to drive over to Richland just for two skeins of floss, so I also got a skein of Gloriana (Forest) that I need for "All You Need is Love".

"Forest" for All You Need is Love
Luckily, they had an older dye lot of Forest, because the newer dye lot (that we looked up in their book) has some pinkish tones in it.

Would I drive to Richland for three skeins of floss? No. Since I was making a trip, I decided to kit up another design that has been in the stash for years.

Spot of Autumn by The Drawn Thread
Luckily, I already had the perfect piece of linen, but needed the floss for it. The design calls for only two WDW threads and DMC. The gals at Needful Needlecrafts were extolling the virtues of the Sullivans line of cotton floss, so thought this would be a good opportunity to give them a try. I'll let you know how I like them after I've given Sullivans a good test.

Have you stitched with Sullivans and if so, do you think they're as good as DMC or better?

So it was a good weekend. Stitching was done, football games watched and Boise State won again. Our Winckler grandkids came over Saturday evening and Ilse and I went to Michaels for some supplies she needed. Sunday we went to church and sang our first choir piece of the year after summer break, and Gary and I picked up our fall wine shipment from Kitzke Cellars.

I hope you enjoyed a nice weekend too and that we all have a great week ahead!

The chalk design is so pretty, especially the color of the flowers. Sounds like a very nice week-end! Family visits always makes for a nice week-end!

Your chalk project looks really good! I have one of the ornament sets but haven't started it. Any tips for stitching on the darker linen?

I've never used Sullivans and look forward to reading what you think about it!

I've not used Sullivan's either and haven't seen it for sale here in Japan. Cosmo and DMC are the two I see here. You have some beautiful projects in the works.

Lol. My nearest LNS is in Franker and it's about one and a half hour's drive to get there. You can easily imagine that I never go there just for a skein of floss, well, maybe I go there for a skein of floss but I never get back home with just a skein of floss, lol.
Chalk looks so great, and so does the DT piece.
I have never used Sullivans threads so I can't say anything about it.

Love all your projects. I haven't tried the Sullivans, but have quite a few skeins as they have given it away as gifts at Williamsburg for the last several years. I haven't tried it because I have so much DMC on hand. Just in the skein, Sullivans seems to have a slightly different texture to me. I'll look forward to hearing about your experience.

I need to drive to our not so LNS (about an hour and a half). My husband is stealing my metallics, braids, and ribbon metallics for his custom fishing rod hobby. I let him have some from a kitted project and want to replace it before I forget. At least he has a little more respect for my stash these days.
