Thorny Thursday

The sun is back, but with mild temperatures and a little breeze which made taking snaps of the roses more difficult today. Here are a few that didn't get deleted!

On Tuesday morning I had a teacher orientation for the ESL classes that will begin on Monday, and today I helped test a couple of new students. Most of our students are adult women (their men are working) from Burma and Iraq, with some Somalian and even a couple Syrian students. Our students are refugees, which is a completely different status than immigrant. Many have spent years in refugee camps that you wouldn't board a dog in, so I feel it's a real privilege to serve them in a small way to help them get established in our country.

Tonight is Bunco, so I won't get any stitching in, but the weekend is coming!

I hope you have a beautiful day!

Enjoy teaching your ESL class. I taught that to elementary students in Florida. It was very gratifying. The kids really wanted to learn English so they could be like their friends. The roses are beautiful.

Your roses are gorgeous Von. I hope Bunco was fun. You are doing a wonderful, blessed work with the refugees my friend.
