Hood's Up!

If it's spring in Eastern Washington, the wind is blowing. The temps are down from the 80s and the sun is shining, but the wind just gets so annoying. But son Kyle had a home track meet on Saturday, so I sucked it up and drove to Ellensburg to watch him run - grabbing a warm hoodie on the way out.

If the wind is blowing in Kennewick, it's worse in Ellensburg, guaranteed.

Watching Kyle and supporting him was worth enduring the wind, and at least the sun was shining, keeping us fairly warm. When we entered the stadium, my first impression was that the track itself is in disgraceful shape for a state college. It looks like it's the original surface from 1980. And no public bathrooms in the stadium, there were just porta-potties for athletes and spectators. But Kyle had a good race after struggling the last few weeks.

In the above picture, Kyle is third, wearing the white knee high compression socks. He ran the 1500 meters and 800 meter races.

After his races, we stayed to watch his former Kamiakin High school teammates run in the men's and women's 3k race. Just like old times. :)  Athlete appetites are high following a meet, so we found a great local pizza place, Cornerstone Pie, to fill the hole.

My Kirsten girl went along with me and it was wonderful, as always, to spent time with her all day. She's always so busy with school, work, and friends, I never see her anymore!
