Here's Kyle at the finish, pushing to beat out that Southridge guy who ran with him most of the race. Great expressions, eh?!
Kevin was about twelve seconds behind. He wore his new racing spikes and ended up getting huge blisters on his heels as well as battling acid stomach. I've put together a first aid box to take along in the car that includes a good supply of Tums. :)
This year Kirsten (8th grade) ran in the fun run. I was sooo proud of her for finishing the race after she had done a six mile workout with a middle school team earlier in the day!
I've been seeing what the town looks like at 6:20 a.m. every morning since Kyle has a zero hour weight training class. Lucky for me we've had lovely mornings this week. :) And since I'm already out of the house getting Kyle to school, I've been stopping by the gym on my way home, spending about an hour on a variety of workout equipment.

The weather has cooled for the beginning of school; perhaps my roses will put on one last show for me. Four new iris rhizomes that I ordered arrived the other day, so I planted those next to my new rose babies by the new section of fence. Here's how some of my older roses are looking right now.
Spending a few minutes deadheading and tending to them every day helps keep me sane. :)
If you're in the States, I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend!

Great pics Von! I can't believe that everything is starting up again. Summer passed way too quickly! Hope your roses last a little longer. They're so pretty!
Hard to believe the summer has ended. Looking forward to fall and much cooler weather. Your roses look beautiful!
Gorgeous roses, and a huge round of applause for your kids! :D
Fun to be a sport mom, isn't it! I love watching my guy challenge his limits and seeing his hard work pay off. Your photo's are truly beautiful! :)
Oh wow, you're very busy with all these activities going on.
I love your rose garden. Must be a delight to see all of the roses still blooming so nicely.
Your roses are so pretty! Our patio rose has had a second flush of flowers, after a good deadheading back in June/July - it's nice to have a little bit of summer still around :)
love, LOVE the roses!
