Why I Return

Victoria Sampler Spring Retreat 2010 is in the books, my third retreat. I've signed up for a fourth in 2011! Some may wonder why I'd want to spend the time and money, why go through the hassle of leaving an active family schedule (although that might tell you a lot right there :D). My stitching friends will understand the pull to return to a beautiful destination where you will find amazing women like these:

Lisa, Thea, and Cathy
who host these retreats and create the amazing projects we work on.

Laura and Brenda

Marty, Laura, and me looking at one of the many gift packages we received.
Marty was one of my roommates and she made all the attendees one of the most clever pouches you'll ever see - pic to come later.
Beth and Dorrie

Our new Australian friends!
They gifted each one of us with a darling pincushion they x-stitched with a state flower of one of Australia's states.

Saturday afternoon we all are bussed out to Thea's home and the VS studio for a snack and our exchange. In all there were 22 of us stitchers, each one dear heart.

Most dear of all to me are these ladies from the Northwest: Nancy, Kathryn, J0-Celle, and Viv (who is really from Tennessee, but we adopted her!). Here we are at our ice-cream dinner - oh my goodness! :D

Thea's projects are gorgeous, but these women are the reason I return to Victoria in the spring.

Aww shucks Von!
The friendships are awesome aren't they?
...and the stitching projects to die for!
It's one great feel-good fest for those of us lucky enough to attend.
I bow to Thea, Lisa and Cathy too - all that talent in one room.
Thanks for the happy memories!

Thanks for sharing your pics Von. They certainly look like a fun group of ladies. I know I'd go back too if I had such a good time.

I think that would be the bestest time ever! I wish (or hope) someday that I get to make a connection with a stitcher. I truly do....
I'm glad you do this for yourself Von, you deserve it!

Thanks for sharing all those great pictures that reveal a lot of the atmosphere and the friendliness of that retreat. No wonder that you have already signed up for next year. I'd do the same without hesitation.

If your like me, you love retreat because it's the chance to spend a few days connecting with people who totally get why you create things and the long lasting friendships that you build!

Looks like you had a great time!
