Forty Degrees of Separation

While it was 105^ at home in Kennewick, it was cloudy and 65^ at Ocean Park. The weather reports kept saying it would get up to 74, but the sun didn't break through the marine layer long enough to warm it up that much. . . which was great!! No complaining was heard by anyone on the peninsula the entire weekend. Saturday evening there was even a light mist.

Just on that point alone, the family reunion was a huge success. Of course, it's always a treat to catch up with all the doings in the larger Paulson clan and especially to see so many great-great grandchildren of Isabelle Paulson - I believe there were six of the nine children there! Of special note this year was that my sweet sis-in-law, Paula, was there following several rounds of chemotherapy, a recent successful stem cell harvest, and a week from now will receive those stem cells back in a transplant. She's looking terrific and her spirit is strong to face the ordeal ahead. I think all the hugs and cheers she got over the weekend will help carry her through too. :)

As for my poor heat-stressed garden, son Geoff, did a nice job of keeping things going here. The irrigation folks worked overtime to get the breaks in the system fixed pronto, and it was going strong before we arrived home. With the cooler weather coming, I'm hoping to finish preparing the last of my back yard garden and getting some plants put into the ground. My iris plants are needing to be divided, so will put some new babies over there as well as a few new rose babies that have recently arrived. Love seeing the progress! Love seeing my boys sweat, lol!

Now, back to work . . .

It must have been great to get away from the heat and to enjoy some lower temperatures.

The cooler temps sound wonderful! I can't stand hot humid weather. The beach picture is so peaceful!

The temps are down...finally...I am even loving the wind at this moment. First night I have been able to open my windows in weeks.

Glad to hear your garden survived! Especially the new babies :]

Yay for family reunions...mine is here this week.
