Ending the Mess

Mess seems to be the word of the month here at the Paulson house. As I've spent more time making messes in the garden, inside messes seem to be taking over, especially the laundry. Somehow the younger set doesn't seem to be aware of those messes, until I say something about it.

For now I'm ignoring most of that, concentrating on my garden projects.

We're nearing the end of the "Big Dig"! Just a couple more feet to the property line and then we can start smoothing out the soil and amending it so future plants will find a happy home here.

Here's the reason why I dig - rocks. Of course, the earth will replace many of those rocks as I've found out in other areas of the garden. In planting several new roses in an older part of the garden, I pulled out two more wheelbarrow loads of rocks. Oh well, it's my cross to bear. :D

In the area above I've moved a few plants and added a few new ones, then mulched. Looks more like spring than late summer. There are a few more new roses in with two more to be planted in the newly dug out garden. So I've been busy with that as well as a general family business. . .

Hans had his sixth birthday last week, right when his family was moving into a new home. Happily the weather was perfect and Mystie and Matt hosted a birthday party in their wonderful new back yard. This new house will be perfect for raising their family with lots of room both inside and especially outside!

Then this last Sunday we had our annual company picnic. There was lots of shopping to be done, buying prizes and items for the kids' treasure chest. The afternoon of the picnic was gorgeous and we all had a great time. This week is fair week so my twins will be spending a lot of time out there face painting for Child Evangelism and I'll be there Thursday demonstrating with the smocking guild. And next week school starts!!

I think I'm ready for that. :D

Whew! You've made me tired by just writing about what you've been doing. The finished part of the yard looks wonderful.

Yard looks fantastic - looks like you've put an awful lot of hard work into it! Sounds like you've all had a great summer, too. :)

My goodness girl - is there an end to that garden? I'm exhausted just thinking of all the work you are doing.
Glad to hear you take time to have some fun

It makes me tired just to think about it!!! Our garden is a total disaster. The inside of the house isn't much better. Sigh.
