Our Memorial Day weekend at Harris Campground was just what the doctor ordered! DH has had a stressful time installing a new server and debugging it for the last couple of months - believe me, he needed to go away. Friday night he fell asleep right after dinner and we slept in the next morning. I didn't need the time away like DH, but I surely enjoyed it. :)
Campfires are a must, as are smores.
The boys brought along their school backpacks as they had some schoolwork to do during the holiday. Kevin got the great idea to burn some of his old homework.
Sunday we took a drive up to the summit of the mountains at Tollgate. There's still quite a bit of snow at the top, but won't be for long with these warm days.
I love the countryside at the foot of the Blue Mountains. I grew up on the other side of them in Lewiston, Idaho, so it feels very homelike to me. I used to spend hours looking out the dining room window at these same hills.
I got to spend a good deal of Saturday by myself at camp while DH took the kids hiking. I set up a lovely stitching post which migrated around the site as the sun moved across the sky. Tomorrow I'll have an update on my holiday stitching!

Sounds nice and relaxing - gorgeous pics of the clouds and landscape!
That is a calm and peaceful looking stitching post at your camp :) Glad you all enjoyed the holiday and your DH will be refreshed once more .
Glad you got to get away-looks like everyone had a good time. Good idea about burning old homework! : )
Looks like a great time was had by all. CJ ok;-)
It looks like you're all having a grand time: burning homework, taking walks in the snow in your shorts, stitching in the sun while the rest of the family goes walkies, ahhh... that's my idea of fun.
It looks GLORIOUS, Von! Wish I'd been there, too!
A wonderful quiet weekend in God's great outdoors...I can't think of anything better :)
I'm glad that you had such a good time! We went camping as our vacation as kids & all have great memories of it. I'm looking forward to seeing what you were able to stitch!
It looks like a real relaxing place.
Looks like you all had fun!! Great pictures shared.
Well, obviously, our DHs need some time away to find some sort of relief with their demandind jobs. That's where I don't feel relieved myself, but I have all year long at home for that. Lol!
It's family time that you never forget.
Hugs,
Lili
Your weekend sounds very extraordinary, fantastic. What a great area! I think I would have spent a lot of time just inhaling the view of the mountains and hills, too.
