Twelve

My baby is twelve years old today - 4/4 - unbelievable! Yesterday she had nine friends over for a party where they decorated t-shirts, played bingo, tag, went on a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood, had cake and ice cream, and later on pizza for dinner. It was an extraordinarily long party without being an overnighter. :) Chalk it up to my being very agreeable when I wasn't really focused on what my daughter was asking me. Usually I say no when I'm in that state, lol!

The weather this week had me wondering if the girls would have to be inside all afternoon, but God smiled on me and gave us a nice spring day. They had a great time and ran off a lot of that sugar they ate.

Sugar in the form of this delectable triple chocolate cake! When I saw this confection at the Wal-Mart bakery resistance was futile and I gave in willingly to all that chocolate fudgey goodness! A scoop of chocolate chip mint ice cream on the side made a perfect accompaniment to the cake. Mmmmm, I'd share with you, but it's gone now. :)

Judging by the volume of the hilarity expressed over the course of the afternoon, I'd say the girls had a great time. And once again, I give thanks for my ipod and earphones that take the edge off some of the high-pitched laughter and screams.

At the end of the day DH and I spent the evening quietly, vegging in front of the tv catching up on some of our recorded shows. Another good day ended.

Von,

In my Dutch culture, when someone has a birthday, not only do you wish the birthday person "happy birthday," but you also wish those closely related "happy birthday" too by saying something like "happy birthday to your daughter." So Happy Birthday to your daughter! It's your birthday too!

Oh, by the way, that looks like one killer chocolate cake!

Best wishes to your delightful daughter, and to the entire family. :D

That cake just looks soooo yummy, you could at least have sent me a piece! On the other hand maybe not - it might just have gotten squashed in the mail. I wish you dd a lovely 12th birthday. Love Patti xxx

The picture of Kirsten is a little bit of deja vu, she looks so much like Mystie 15 years ago! Hope she had a wonderful birthday!

Wow!! Happy Birthday to your 12 year old! I have a soon-to-be 11 year old on April 10, but it will just be a few boys at our house playing Wii and maybe going bowling...not so much giggling and shrieking, I think.
