At the Sewing Machine

Poor little sewing machine sits neglected on the table day after day, week after week after week. It's such a lovely machine, not all tricked out like those expensive embroidery sewing machines, it has the basic stitches and a few extras. But most importantly it just works right. I've had it for twelve years now and any mistakes it has made or tension problems have all been operator error which usually a new needle or rethreading the machine properly will correct.

So far I've sewn up the side seams and the back placket as well as the neck binding. Getting that neck binding sewn on straight is the hardest part of this whole process. This time I ripped it out only once! Hurray! :D As you can see, the sleeve binding is going on next which is a little fiddly. Mystie is bring my grandchildren here this morning, so I'll be able to get a measurement for the hem.

Thank you, friends, for your Easter greetings. Our Easter was quieter than we expected with Mystie and Ilse home ill for the weekend, but ds Geoff came over after church and we filled our bellies with ham and potatoes. Yeah, there were other vegies too, but the potatoes are most important to the boys. The weather didn't cooperate very well with those who had egg hunts in the afternoon, so I sat quite contentedly in my home thinking about having the grandkids over on a nicer day for our traditional hunt.

Which will be today! The sun is shining and even the wind has died down, although it's chilly out there. Put jackets on the kids and it'll be fine. So I'll be off now to prepare for their arrival!

More soon!

Dress is going to be beautiful! What kind of sewing machine do you have? I'm in the market for another one and trying to figure out what to get. :)

That dress is just to die for. I love the new look of your blog too - it is so cheery and sunny and springlike as well as being stitching like. Lots of Love Patti xxx
