I bought the fabric way last fall intending to make my granddaughter a dress. Now, at last, I'm beginning the process of making that dress. The fabric is the sweetest cotton, printed with a rather shabby chic pattern of faded roses in pink and lavender - perfect for spring. So last night I copied off the pattern pieces and cut the fabric.

This afternoon I assembled the pieces, pleated the fabric, and now it's being blocked.

In rummaging through my threads I found this skein of Gloriana silk that I think will complement the fabric perfectly.
I can't wait to get started smocking!

There's been some very hard work going on over at your place, Von! The dress looks very impressive. Your Grand Daughter will be over the moon, I'm sure :o)
Wow, Von, that's going to be a real eye-popper when you've finished it!!!
I can't wait to see your smocking! Lovely colours and fabric!
I am positive your granddaughter will love that dress and I love the color of the silk. Patti xxx

Looks great already!
That is going to look so pretty I can't wait to see it!
sigh.
Have I ever mentioned that I have a smocking pleater that I've never used? One of my someday dreams. Of course, the way boys run in my husband's family I'm doomed to grandsons. Bring 'em on. They might not mind wearing smocking. Y' never know.
Oh wow! Gorgeous, and it's pleated so perfectly. Love the thread you chose too.
