Lifting Skies, Lifting Spirits

After three long weeks of the gray inversion, Sunday brought a breeze and on Monday the sun shone brightly on this dull soul! My home, as much as I love it, does not capture the light nor sun to the extent that I need; so Kirsten and I ran off to Panda Express for lunch where we basked in the sun pouring through the huge south-facing window and enjoyed a little bit of orange chicken. We ran a couple of errands, then drove around a couple of the new neighborhoods in town, dreaming of a new house with walls of glass, skylights, perhaps a conservatory . . . a place full of sunshine and light.

To buck up my spirits at the end of the inversion, I began a new xs project, A Quaker Study by Carriage House Samplings. I had a piece of 32ct latte linen and finally chose good ol' DMC floss.

I'll probably be totally sick of #420 and 869 by the time this project is done. I thought about choosing a color, but this colorway will go so well with the Acorns and Threads sampler I stitched awhile back.

Little by little I've been going through drawers, papers that have piled up, cleaning shelves and have been happy to find my missing AHG folders and manual that I misplaced during the Christmas hubbub. Today I found a hardanger/xs kit that the smocking guild members received for Christmas last year and we're supposed to bring it to the next meeting. I totally blacked this kit out of my memory and had no idea where it was around here! What a relief to find it today! :D Of course, the mess I straighten today will reformulate and have to be done over again - that's just the way it is around here.

A bit of sunshine does wonders to lift the spirit, doesn't it? We had sun yesterday and I felt like I could levitate. LOL!

I'm loving your progress on "A Quaker Study" - it's stunning.

It's always a treat to catch up with your blog, Von. :) I've been very remiss over the past year at both blogging and leaving comments on my favourite blogs. I'm sorry I haven't checked in with you in such a long time.
