It was HOT over the weekend - 100^ hot. And of course, this was the weekend for our friend's daughter's wedding and outdoor reception. The outdoor venue was a delightfully shaded property with a natural, spring-fed creek running through it, making the afternoon quite tolerable and as the day wore on lengthening the shadows and the evening was absolutely perfect. Son Geoff spun the tunes for the reception, his first attempt and probably not his last as he was truly in his element and had a great time doing it. DH was on parking duty, guiding guests to the nearby field. The sun was fierce, but he was well sun-screened and carried an umbrella to keep the rays at bay.
There's nothing sweeter than holding a sleeping, drooly baby on a hot, hot day. Baby Ilse became a bit fussy, so Nana took her and swayed her to sleep - the best party of the day for me. :)
Fred Meyer had a great sale in their nursery over the weekend so I bought a couple flats of plants with my pots in mind. On Sunday I visited my favorite nursery, Heritage, and found some plants that I couldn't find at FM, plus some Key Lime heuchera, and a scabiosa. And the weather has cooled off (with even a few drops of rain) so today is a perfect day to plant.
Well, it's time to pick up my kids at homeschool p.e., so I'll leave you with a couple of pics of my garden this morning.

Indeed, there's nothing to compare to that sweet feeling of a baby in arms. Glad you got some good Grandma time in. :)
Beautiful roses!!!!!! We had the heat wave last week up in the 90's in the city - it is now back in the high 50's low 60's with lots of fog.....
I know you were enjoying every moment with that sweet, sweet baby. :-)
Your flowers are lovely.
Where did you find that Amour freebie you stitched? I really like it.
Gosh Von, could you send some of that warm weather our way.
Your little granddaughter is so sweet! I love to cuddle with those little ones too!
There's nothing better than rocking a little one like that. Your granddaughter looks so sweet. Love the sunhat!
It's been awhile since I checked in on your blog, but it sounds like the VS retreat was wonderful. I enjoyed that 100' weather like you, but for us here in Oregon, it's been back to the gloomy grey days. At least my garden isn't needing any watering!!
Holy cow, that's hot! It was that warm in Phoenix early last week, but goodness gracious! I'm glad that the venue made the temperatures feel not so warm. And Ilse looks so sweet on your arm. :)
