In Lieu of Stitching . . .

since I'm still feeling pretty yucky, I took some quick pics of the fun that Kevin and our neighbor, Ricky, were having with Fritz the other day.

It's good that they have a reason to get outside instead of planting themselves in front of a computer, as is their tendency. Which tendency they come by quite honestly, as their father has been enamored of the computer since early in our marriage, often to my chagrin and deep irritation; but we won't get into that. :)

The horrendous cold I'm afflicted with reached its crescendo yesterday and I slept through Kyle's orthodontist appointment and the phone call they made to the house. Sometimes my children are much too solicitous of me and rather than wake me, they let me sleep. But it was a rather important appointment, not just a check up, and I was a upset that they didn't wake me, or at least talk to their father - who had not yet left for the office. Guess they don't think he can handle situations such as this, as I'm the one who handles these types of things. Argh! Gotta get them to think outside the box when necessary!! I had Kyle call the office to reschedule, and they were able to squeeze us in today.

By the afternoon, I had medicated myself enough that I could go to teach my AHG class. Luckily I had enough brain cells about me on Tuesday to plan for a craft project that I could pretty much just introduce to the class, then let them have at it on their own. I thought that the Easter basket like I featured in my last post would be a great craft for my girls, and I think they did have lots of fun with it. My papercraft stash is rivaling my stitching stash these days, so all I had to do was cut some paper, score the basket cardstock, assemble some punches, and some goodies to go into the basket at the end. Glue and scissors are available in our supply closet at church, so we were set. I wish I had taken my camera because the girls were very creative and made some awfully sweet baskets.

Then last night was the fundraiser for 2nd Harvest, one of the local food banks. Many local restaurants, wineries, and microbreweries provided the food, and there were lots of goodies to bid on in the silent and loud auctions, as well as raffles - which surprisingly my DH did not win! He's getting to be rather well known for his luck at Chamber of Commerce drawings.

This afternoon I'll be running around for a haircut, the orthodontist, signing papers at the bank, and then I'm drawing the line and going home for the evening, sending my regrets to the smocking guild.

I hope this new Spring day finds you in good health (unlike me!) and sunshine in your heart. Now I'm going for another cup of tea. . .

Have you enjoyed that cup of tea !? LOL sounds like you needed one! I hope you continue to feel much much better and that the worst is over . Must have been really bad if you could even sleep through the phone. I love the big frisby thing Fritz plays with, my little Hamish would love one of those. He suffers from little dog syndrome and always goes for the biggest toys so that would be way cool in his opinion :D :D

Take care and hope you get some relaxing 'me' time with a bit of stitching too :)

Sorry to hear you've been unwell! I had about 7 weeks of illness in the 12 between mid December and mid March and it ain't fun!

Your paper crafting is lovely though, so you've been doing some nice work there.

Hi Von!!! Isn't it FUN being sick when your a mom? NOT!!! Sorry to hear that the bug has got you down so bad...I've been home sick with a bug the last two days also. Something I caught on the plane I believe as I was fighting it off while still in Hawaii. When I got home it hit me full force and I struggled through for 4 days and finally called in sick. After sleeping most of yesterday I can tell I am on the mend today. Hope you are too by the time you read this. Figured you were terribly busy or sick, you were being so quiet!!! I can't believe how many unread entries I have on Newsgator. Being away for a week was like being away for a month! I wonder if I will ever get caught up!!! Take good care of yourself!!!
