Christmas 2007

I'm basking in that post-Christmas laziness that comes after a period of extreme busyness. From Sunday to Friday we had a house full of family, on Christmas Day a total of 21. With a little furniture shifting, we make room. :)

These two little guys are what really make Christmas for all the rest of us! Jaeger (2) is speaking very clearly now, except for "s" in initial blend words (so his Aunt Barbara gave him 'lippers for Christmas), and tries to imitate his older brother as best as he can. We all get a special kick out of him as he is the spittin' image of his grandpa, my DH! :) Hans is adorable too and quite worthy of being imitated. They both had a great time playing with their new toys, having new books read to them, in between scary times when the dogs escaped from the basement.

I get a different joy from my own older children, niece and nephews as they're all growing up. Their Christmas lists include "time with my cousins", "Christmas dinner", "Auntie Jan's cookies" and "Aunt Von's Christmas bread". I love that they enjoy my bread and cooking. Andrew (nephew) even had a special request for German pancakes for breakfast on Thursday morning which I happily whipped together. For teen boys in particular, I know that food makes for some of their best memories. :D

I received a nice selection of teas, Barnes and Noble gift cards, a little chocolate, a snuggly electric throw blanket from DH (I think he'll be using it when he falls asleep on the couch, lol!), a handmade necklace from dd Melanie, the ipod from Geoff, and this calendar:

I'm a bit at a loss of where to get started this morning, after I finish this post. I do have a couple of errands to run and should do so while DH and the twins are out geocaching. Then when they return home, DH said he had some chores he was going to do around here - I'm really excited at that prospect, lol! Perhaps towards the end of the day I can finally take up a stitching project and sink into the couch with my warm blanket and maybe a movie on the telly.

Thank you for your lovely card Von, I received it today :) It is beautiful!
Sounds like you and yours had a lovely Christmas :) That's the best part isn't and gift enough to be with and spend time with those you love.
Happy Holidays!

My now 5-year-old did that with her S when she was younger...she loved seeing "moke" coming from a smokestack. :-)

I've had a couple of those pattern-a-day calendars in the past few years. Some of the patterns are kind of corny, but for the most part, there are some really nice patterns.

What a wonderful Christmas Day - I love the kids Christmas lists ... sometimes it's the simple things in life that give us the best memories. Mum and Dad have given me some great gifts over the years, but the thing that always made Christmas for me was the simple Christmas stocking from my Mum - just filled with nuts in their shells, some sweeties, and a little bottle of Babycham, and perhaps a pair of fashion earrings ... ah, such sweet memories. Reading about your Christmas day gave me the warm fuzzies :D

It's fun to watch the little ones open their gifts! I love your tree-I did blue and white last year. It's a wintery look.
You really got nice things, I have yet to get an ipod, not sure if I'd use it, though I'm thinking it would be great on walks...maybe someday. I have a few of the cross stitch calendars too. Please post if you do any of them.
Happy New Year!

Sounds like you had a fantastic family Christmas! Hope 2008 is as fab for you and yours.

That's a great calendar! I'm off to trawl ebay to see if I can find one too, lol.

I wouldn't be without my MP3 player. It's just the best. Apart from my music, which I can't live without, I download books onto mine and it's lovely to listen to stories while I stitch.
