Happy Veterans' Day

It's a cloudy, damp Veterans' Day this year, but parade day (Saturday) ended up being a really nice day - windy, but nice for November! Every year our American Heritage Girls troop marches in the Veterans' Day parade in West Richland and until now I've just watched. This year as a leader, I volunteered to park at the end of the parade and have hot cocoa ready for the girls. They all enjoyed the treat and it gave us a nice meeting place for parents to pick up their girls.

Later in the day Kirsten had a birthday party to attend so after I dropped her off, I spent some time at Home Depot buying new overhead lights for my kitchen. While walking around dreaming, I met my good friend Joyce, whose daughter was also at the party, and we decided to go to a nearby coffeeshop until it was time to pick up the girls. An unexpected treat!

Sunday afternoon I decided to lace up Acorns and Threads and get it in a frame. Now it's ready to enjoy.
All in all it was a very pleasant weekend.

I love the Acorns and Threads - it's gorgeous! I've been wanting that pattern for a while now, but it seems like every time I go into my LNS and ask for it, they've just sold the last one earlier in the day. But they did promise me they'd hang on to a copy for me the next time an order came in.

Thanks so much for your kind words on my blog. I plan to keep extra busy! : )
Your Acorn and Threads pieces is just perfect. You are so talented.
Glad you enjoyed the parade. I heard my hometown had Ed McMahon as the 'Grand Marshall' as he lived in the same county (and apartment building-though before us).

The nicest framing for the nicest cross stitch project. You always do such an amazing job, Von...
Thanks for sharing all the beautiful pics, both of veterans' day (hot cocoa was a great idea, I think) and of your lovely garden. It's the same here, nature hasn't quite understood the season yet. I just enjoy! Lol!
Take care,
Lili
