First Roses
I just cut the first rose blooms of the season! Oh my goodness, I wish you could catch a whiff of the wonderful scent! The lavender blooms are "Heirloom", planted just last year, and the light pink is "Sharifa Asma", planted in 2005. It's going to be a grand year in the rose garden. This morning I spent a little time with the rose catalog thinking about what I would like to plant this year and am about ready to order 7 or 8 more plants.
This weekend I transplanted some garden phlox from the railroad side of the fence to the yard side where we can enjoy them. Several years back I transplanted them hoping to save them from the total yard makeover. They did well and now I'm bringing them back. The low humidity we have here in the Tri-Cities is ideal for phlox and roses - no mildew problems!
Mother's Day was peaceful with dd Melanie making chicken fajitas for us after church. Then I spent the afternoon reading - what a treat!

Gorgeous blooms, Von! ((((hugs))))
These are beautiful, Von! The roses here are not blooming yet, still very tight buds. I have a lavender one also that was here when we bought the house, and it has the most wonderful aroma of all the roses in the garden!
It sounds like you had a relaxing mother's day- nice. Your roses are beautiful. Thanks so much for the picture.

Roses already-how lucky for you! I love the color of the heirloom.
I wanted to say too, what a lovely job you did on the wedding card. I should make one for my friend who is getting married next month.
Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous roses! I'm glad to hear you had such a lovely, peaceful Mother's Day. My daughter cooked for me too - such a treat!
