Time for a Drive

What a nice weekend I had with Connie and her family, beginning with the drive to Lacey. I decided to take the White Pass route so I would miss the Tacoma rush hour traffic by coming in from the south. As I approached I-5, the rain began to fall - no surprise there. :) Traffic moved right along and I soon arrived on Connie's doorstep.

We stayed up till the wee hours talking and admiring stitching designs and projects, catching up with family news, etc., and continued Saturday morning until we drove over to Shipwreck Beads, for the ultimate bead experience. This place is GINORMOUS and totally packed with every kind of bead and charm imaginable. DD Melanie has gotten into jewelry making so I managed to bring home a really nice assortment of things that reflect her style, plus some that she can make up some things in my style too. After that, Connie took me to the wonderful Falls Terrace Restaurant located next to a waterfall. The setting was lovely and the food was delicious. I had seafood pasta and totally gorged myself. Then we called on Connie's dd and dgd, my first time to meet little Alana. It was so fun to see Amy in her own home with her own little family. After dinner in the evening we settled in and watched "Marie Antoinette", going to bed a little earlier than the previous day.

Sunday we were very lazy and spent the morning in our pajamas drinking coffee and looking at some home videos of their last trip to California. Finally I really had to begin making my way home, but first waited for the rain shower to pass. While the sun shone through the clouds I packed the car and went to Costco for gas. Since traffic wasn't heavy, I took I-5 north, then cut across to meet I-90 going east, taking a little shopping break at the Factory Stores at North Bend. I found a couple of nice sales on spring clothes for the twins and Kirsten. The snow was falling pretty hard over Snoqualmie Pass, but it was just a bit too warm for it to stick to the highway, so it wasn't slick at all. As soon as we crested the summit I could see a few cloud breaks and blue sky ahead and soon I was driving in the sunshine! The air was so crisp and clean, just a beautiful day for a drive. Soon the full moon began to rise in the east and kept me company the rest of the way home.

Thanks, Connie, for such a great weekend! It was just what I needed!

Hi Von, sorry I've been so quiet this week, but life has been crazy around here. You gave such a wonderful detailed accounting of our weekend, I didn't feel compelled to do the same. Thanks!
