I finally took a few minutes today to wash and press, then cut out the hardanger doily that I started a couple of years ago, but finished just the other day. This is a project from a book by Jill Carter that is filled with stunning designs, but all quite approachable for all but the newest hardanger stitchers. It was stitched on light pink lugana with DMC perle coton.
The main reason I set this project aside was because of the picots, those little knots you see in the center square. Often you will see them as little loops, but I'm not fond of the loops, so I set it aside. When I saw my friend Laura's doily, she'd pulled the loops tighter to form knots which I really like, spurring me on to finish.
Looks like I could spend a little more time with the scissors trimming up the edges, but for now I'm quite pleased with it.
My rosebushes finally got their spring trim this afternoon. It won't be long before they're delighting me with their blooms again.
Tomorrow DH and I are leaving town once again for an insurance agents' convention in Las Vegas. Not many of the shows appeal to me, but I am looking forward to time away from the routine, soaking up some warmth and sunshine, eating some great food, and having fun with DH and friends. I'll be bringing my laptop along so I won't be completely out of touch!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Your Hardanger is really beautiful! I have been tempted to try doing some of that. A friend of mine made a hardanger angel and everyone that went to her house wanted it. She made hers from Cross N Patch Angel Book. I may have to try that sometime. Yours is just gorgeous!!
