Rainy Day Reading

Saturday was the perfect day for snuggling up with a book and a great cup of coffee. The skies were gray and the rain fell almost all day. Going out into the weather didn't appeal, so I got out my French press, brewed a wonderfully fragrant pot of coffee, then picked up the latest in the Saxon series that DH brought home from the library on Friday. I enjoy historical fiction a lot and this series is a fun read, focusing on the era of Alfred the Great. Lords of the North is the third in this series, that brings the main character, Uhtred, so close to his goal, then honor pulls him away - setting us up for the next book.

In between reading sessions, I did a little laundry and stitched on "Fine Linens" to the point that now I have only to sew on some beads to be finished!

Thanks for all your well wishes and healing hugs for Kyle. He's doing very well, adjusting to life in a cast. He'll be in this one for a couple of weeks when they'll rex-ray it to be sure it's healing properly, then another cast for probably another three weeks. I'll keep you posted.

I tend to be more of a brainless romance reader, that or British royalty stuff, Alison Weir is one of my favorite authors. My DH read this book, loved it, literally could not put it down :-).

I hope that Kyle's arm heals quickly. I've not read this particular series by Bernard Cornwell, but I have really enjoyed some of his others

Sounds like you had a lovely day. I just read the first of these and really enjoyed it. Maybe I should put it in the email to Barbara.
