Can't Trust That Man
"Don't worry, we won't even need you!" That's what they told me when I arrived at our business office yesterday morning. So I drank my coffee, watched all the activity, snuggling and chatting with my grandsons. But as they went thru the segments of the commercial, they realized that I was needed, and not in the background. My training as an eldest child and mother of many emerged, doing what needed to be done. It was fun, I'll just cringe to see myself on the tube, taking some consolation that it will be only a few seconds of air time! I have a feeling the commercial may end up on Youtube and you'll be able to cringe for me as well. :D The premise of the ad is that some insurance companies slap you around, but you'll be treated right at Mid-Columbia Insurance. As you can see here, being mean comes naturally to me, lol!
Linen Closet Labels by Liberty Street Designs went to the beach with me last weekend. My last attempt with this chart was aborted due to my lack of mathematical skills when figuring the fabric size I needed. This time I'm using a piece of 32 ct Belfast linen in a silvery gray color and some Silk 'n Colors threads from my stash.
My three youngest have been hit with the flu, so it's pretty quiet around here today. For all of my friends with little ones suffering with the same kind of illnesses, take heart! Nursing sick older children is not as exhausting and slowing the pace is kinda nice.

Hi Von! You meanie :)
Your project looks scrumptious! That gray color and the light colored thread is fabulous!
One of my twins is down with the stomach flu....I have him sequestered, however, Ellie - the toddler - snuck up to the sick room and drank out of his *sprite* cup....oh, dear.....the best of intentions just went down the toilet, I fear :(
Oh, you look scary in that picture! But now I really want your autograph! LOL!!
Sorry to hear the flu bug has hit your house. I hope everyone will feel better soon, and that you'll enjoy the slower pace in the meantime. :)
Hope the kids are feeling better soon!
Nice progress on your WIP :)
LOL! I wish the commercial aired here on the East Coast (does it??)
Wow, I can hardly wait to see that commercial! Hopefully you or Gary will post it on your blog?
Sorry to hear the kids are sick. AmySue has pneumonia..hit her hard and fast. One morning she was fine, by evening she was one sick girl. The doctor said if she had waited another day to come in she would have been admitted to the hospital!
Your "Fine Linens" piece looks great. Hope the kiddo's get to feeling better soon.
Oh you do look scary!!LOL!! Love your fine linens!! Hope the children recover soon.
OKay, I'll be checking YouTube every day now!
I just love this project you're working on!
Hope the kids get better soon. No sign of the flu here...
Hey you're a TV star! You must download it to Youtube for all of us to see.
Sorry to hear the kids are sick, I hope it doesn't make the rounds of everyone.
Looks like you were having way too much fun there ;-)
I hope that your kids are feeling better. Alexander has a cold and sinus infection. He stayed home one day ,but your right about kids not needing so much attention when their sick anymore. Alexander only wanted to lay around a sleep until his medication started to work and then he happily went off to school again today.
What fun, not sure I could do it. Hope your kids get to feeling better soon.
lol...fancy getting roped into being IN the commercial!! I hope you have a way to put it on your blog?? Sorry to hear your kids are full of flu, hopoe it clears soon. Your stitching looks lovely I really like the border colour with the linen...great choice :-)))
Enjoy your weekend Von!
Uh-oh!
Von is getting her 15 'seconds' of fame!
The Ikea stuff looks cool! We have a fold up bed and tv/entertainment low table(for son Sean)and a bookcase for us.
I wish good health to the kids!
How fun that you got to work on a commercial Von. Maybe you will be discovered and then I will be able to brag about how I know someone famous.
Guess the famous lady is keeping pretty busy right now with her flu patients. Hope they feel better soon.
Margaret
Oh, your commercial sound fun.
nice project, too! I, too, have some trouble with figuring fabric sizes. Sometimes I have something in mind & just 'figure' it is going to be large enough ... NOT. Oh well. Your re-do looks nice.
I love your Fine Linens wip, Von!
Hope your kiddos feel better soon, and that you can manage under the stress.
I just love Ikea by the way! We got a lot of our furniture there when we moved to Philly.
Wow! You live an interesting life, Von!
Sorry that the flu has struck in your place... My kids are very nice and quiet when they're ill, so it's far from a nightmare to take care of them. In fact, I wouldn't want to say that I like them to be ill, but I like to take care of them when they're ill... lol!
I'm an Ikea fan too, but when it comes down to furniture, better live close to the shop as you often have to go back...
Thanks for sharing, Von.
Lili
I think I have a newfound respect for you, Von, and here I thought you were a sweet, meek little lady, LOL! Never underestimate the power of a woman who "isn't needed."
Sorry about the flu hitting your house. Hope Mom stays well, and I must mention that I dearly LOVE the "Linens" piece you're doing! What a subtle, but beautiful original by Von. ;-) I really like it. The colors are great!
How fun to be in a commerical. Let us know if it makes it onto Youtube!
