It Started Out. . .

as a typical New Year's Day for the Paulsons. We watched the Rose Parade while enjoying morning coffee and beginning to take down the Christmas tree. We watched some movies, "For the Love of the Game" and "Mission Impossible III" while continuing to put away Christmas decorations. At 5:00 p.m. tradition took a nose dive as the television channel was changed to Fox for the Fiesta Bowl.

We don't normally watch football games. Nothing against them, but interest in football isn't high in this household. However, Boise State University was playing Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl and we HAD to watch. Both DH and I went to BSU back in the day and Gary's brother and wife, and Dad, are huge fans. In fact, Jim and Paula were in Glendale, Arizona for the game.

The pregame conversation made it clear that Oklahoma was expected to win pretty easily. I didn't really care if they did win, as long as BSU made a good showing for themselves and they earned some respect. Well, they surely did all that and more as they WON the game 43-42 in overtime! There was a lot of hootin' and hollerin' going on in this house - very uncharacteristic, lol! It was simply a great game, a real David vs Goliath story. I'm still excited about it and can only imagine the bedlam in the Boise Paulson household!

Today it's back to the normal life. We're getting the remainders of Christmas put away, some cleaning done, then tomorrow - school. But images of lateral passes and behind-the-back passes remain in my mind and I'm still grinning!

WOOT!

Can you believe John turned OFF the game in the last minutes before the OT because he thought they lost???? Was he ever surprized to hear that they won!!! I still remember watching the championship game back in 77 or 78. Man that was fun!!! Yeah Boise!

Hi Von!
I just have so much pleasure reading your posts! I only have two children but I do relate to this crafting corner all messed up with the celebrations and all; and the great need to take the house and laundry all back in "shape"... lol...
As for your wish list, I definitely share your feeling: we should quit sleeping! Do you realize I'm not good at anything under 10 hours' sleep?! This is enormous! I am like my dad, physiologically speaking. I really envy those who need little sleep...
Well, laundry time now, does that ring a bell? lol...
Lots of hugs!

Wow-that was a close game.
Football has taken on a whole new meaning now that Sean is older and more 'into it'. He and his dad watch together, throw the football around-things that make me happy. Sean's school Penn State, just won the Outback (as in Steakhouse) Bowl a few days ago. The Philly Eagles won the division championship. All is good in PA.

We watched plenty of football, but I don't think we saw this game - from your description it definitely was a good one!

Our Christmas decorations are still up. it's nice to get them put away and return to a somewhat normal state though, isn't it?

LOL!! Wow, what a nail biter!! Sounds like you all had a fantastic time, and even more so because your team won!

It's a good thing none of the neighbor's had to call the cops because the Paulsons were WAY too rowdy!!! :o)

Hi Von: Our New Year's Day started with the power out -- for about 5 or 6 hours!!! With my Mom, SIL, BIL scheduled to visit. My husband powered up the generator & we managed to get the house in order, etc. Whew.

We did see part of that game ... and it was very exciting.

I think my day to crash was today ... all day. I just had no energy for anything.

I enjoyed your New year wishes -- kinda like crafty new year resolutions!!! I plan on sticking with 2 SALs and otherwise stitch whatever!!!

Happy New Year
